The subs killed the game really but nice to get a bit of rest for some of the boys for next week's dead rubber.
Errrr, did we watch the same match?

We made a raft of changes, scored 20+ points, three of our tries from replacements, Cronin and Dillane made some lovely line breaks...
Yes Fuzzy and also conceded two tries and made Italy look semi-competitive for 15 minutes.

The subs didn't do badly at all, personally I was delighted that the power of the Leinster bench warranted the selection of try scorers Quiff-less & Ferg McFad'n. I think Dearie's point is simply that the raft of replacements just kills/changes the game.

Incidentally Payne's try was a thing of beauty, showed some pace to get to the intercept. Let's hope Ulster get some games out of him and he doesn't develop the mythical "tight hammy", whilst he awaits 3 more caps in the summer. >EW

And finally finally, I don't blame him for it was a split second thing but George North got the ball away before going into touch at the end, could have been the funniest result of all time.
Yea I thought the game just disintegrated in general with replacements from both teams. It often does.

Cronin seems to be a fan fave, perhaps because he likes to stand on the wing waiting for the ball a lot. He makes more line breaks than Rory but then you would if you are rarely at the bottom of a ruck. He has fantastic pace off the mark for a hooker but thon time he made a line-break near half way and had knackered himself to a standatill by the 22 was quite funny. That move also led to a comedy ruck intervention by Jared, showing them bug fellas how to score from close range lol

If is was just about pace Fionn Carr would have 50 caps and probably would have been responsible for at least 250 tries scored by the opposition. If he was then dropped after that 250th try scored against him for Trimble some folk would be whinging about Joe dropping a guy with blistering pace for a guy who is at least 2 divisions higher as a rugby player.

Still though Trimble would want to be careful as I noticed him tackling with a very bad technique once today and nearly doing himself an injury. I thought Rum would have mentioned it but he probably was either asleep or assumed it was Earls or Zebo. :D

Tells at least a couple of stories.

1) He is not as good as Rory Best.
2) He has 50 caps more for Ireland than most people in Ireland.

Hmm yes that is true. There are others who have caps who probably shouldn't as well.

Thought officials were homers today at Twickers. Pinged the Welsh time and time again even when the English were either holding them down or blocking the exit he also appeared to give them more time over the ball at the breakdown.

What have we learned about Irish rugby from that massive victory over the Italian reserves?
I'd say nathin that we did not already know.

I thought the GLU started magnificently but it appears age caught up with him after 20 minutes.

D4, fair play to you for that call but I always find when the team has scored 50 against a team of dustbins, tryin to be in any way objective never mind critical is like pishing into the wind, the clown tendency tend to loose the run of themselves and are probably running around for the rest of the day like a dog with two Dicks looking for walls & table legs to pish their excitement against.

If they were to beat the mighty SCots by a couple of scores, I could accept that as a goodish performance. In any event much as MexicanJoe is not my favourite person, if he escapes with won 2 drawn 1 lost 2 it'll not be a disaster given the significant players he was missing, Henderson, O'Brien, Healy & especially in my opinion O'Mahony though Stander has won me over having been unsure of him.

I still think O'Mahony offers more in most respects though 6 is becoming a hell of a quandary & Stander will eventually take over from Heaslip after a hell of a fight. Heaslip is hugely underrated by most outside Mexico, especially Ulster, a real trooper.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Opinions on todays game for fuzzylogic >EW Ireland played a pub team in Italy...didn't learn very much. England destroyed Wales and took the foot of the gas towards the end which meant it looked like a close game. Joubert gave the vast majority of decisions to England. Discuss :stir:

Looked as though Cronin might have been capable of running in that try but that he lacked the self confidence to go for it and slowed down to deliver the lobbed pass.

Didn't see the Ireland came but a very good scoreline considering some of the forwards absent.

Enjoyed the 1st half of the England game with some decent breaks and phase play. Lost it's shape in the second 40 but got interesting at the end again. England looked pretty decent. Looked as though they knew what they were doing in the first half and they were mixing the play up very nicely indeed. They've certainly found one or two potential quality players out of this 6N so it's been a decent if largely unspectacular start for Jones.
Climb up onto the top of your house and start screaming: 'stand up for the Ulstermen, stand.......'

How many of Rory's first 50 were off the bench?
