Other than Hopes, are there any of the Ulster lads there people think it's worth keeping an eye on? Given how much of the Queens team is made up from the Ulster academy, I find the fact that they're struggling in AIL 1B slightly worrying. You'd expect anyone ready to push for Ulster selection to stand out at that level.
Therein lies your answer

Young lads thrown in the deep end - their team is entirely made up of students. There’s a fairly big jump between 1B/2A as well

Doesn’t help that Instonians have poached about two thirds of their team either over the years. Lost Whitten, Dillon and McMaster to them this season
Was never going to work players want to play not get dropped because some snotty nosed youngster is in the academy.
Whitten was always going to play with his brothers

Turns out that Gordon and Tom Wood are both sons of Keith. Tom the only school boy listed, so presumably quite handy.
Between that and Edogbo Jr I'd almost be more curious about the Munster selection. Lots of names in the Ulster team I'm not familiar with, mind.

Interesting to see Malone, Mcnamee and Burnett all back in the system and does anyone know much about McNamara?

It looks a very weak ulster development side compared to the Munster one. A few kids on the ulster side will get a rude awakening. Know a few of the Ulster backs - centres lack pace and McNamara has come from nowhere through Instonians, seems a strange call.

Johnny Scott also school age but didn’t go back for U6th year this year afaik. Seems a very strange selection from Ulster - from Crothers who obviously has a couple of recent senior outings to schoolboys plus then some brought in from nowhere. Suppose these games are designed to look at folk but think Munster looks a stronger selection certainly in terms of forwards & replacements so will be interesting to see how this one goes.

McNamara a late developer, started to shine in Uni at Dundee with Thomas Armstrong. Has been ripping it up at Instonians having finished his degree.

Anyone going to it?

King, what are your thoughts on Ellerby? Never seen him play but have heard very good reports. Unlucky to miss out on schools rugby last year and a possible academy place

Lots of QUB there too. Lee is Rainey OB, Malone playing 15 for Loughborough last year too afaik

Solomon being so highly rated is an odd one given he’s never playing division 1 AIL I don’t think and currently doesn’t start for Ban

Good player, great to see him back playing after his ACL injury. Heard the same about an academy place so he must be going well. His brother Hugo is playing in the Exeter 2nd team.

Surprised ROD didn’t get a look in but I assume they are being kept for Senior cup on Saturday. Surprised Stones they have released McNamara for this truth be told

I think Stones have good backline strength this year so his absence wont make much of a difference. Heard lukas Kenny had a bad leg break with qub so he would have been in team otherwise.

Elerby didn’t do acl and hasn’t played for qub yet this year so odd call too.

Yeh heard about Kenny, terrible for him.

Thought it was acl, maybe meniscus but serious enough to keep him out most of last season.

That’s bad luck for the lad.

Think I saw his dad getting pretty involved a couple of games ago. Wouldn’t have been a good watch, obviously.

Come back stronger, as they say these days.
