Doak has played quite a bit at 10 through age grade.

Massive difference between age grade and playing the European champions in the heiny.
Burns has been “playing” 10 all his life and is still shyte.

They did need to find another gear, couldn’t though. They didn’t get the try bounds point.Jackie Brown wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:20 pmThis, LR switches off in the 2nd half. Really Mr E - do you honestly think Ulster would have started the game in the same way in front of a pumped up crowd baying for a reaction to the previous week?! I think not - we have not become a bad team overnight, albeit there are issues to be addressed, and you need only look at our home European games record to prove the point. Not perfect but bloody good regardless of the opposition!Rovi Snave wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:15 pmWise up - for all the positives we lost - Ulster were crap in the first half and La Rochelle switched off in second half - the underlying problems still existflatpass wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:03 pmThis!Hans Indaruck wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:00 pm You can’t help but feel that it would have been a very different game if it had been played in front of a packed Ravenhill crowd!![]()

Unfortunately we haven’t really had a baying crowd at ravers for two or three years.

Given that Doak models himself on Pienaar I wonder if he'll only want to play there if needed out of position too...
Given Lowry has played a lot more rugby at ten recently its interesting that we went for Doak there ahead of him. I'm guessing it must be something they've been trying a lot in training?
I don't agree that Burns is terrible, but he has been playing through injury in the last couple of games. We really need a plan B. I've thought Flannery has looker like a decent option too, from what little I've seen. Would like to see more of him.

Sadly you’re right, but I think this weekend might have seen one given the anger at last week’s capitulation.

Jokeshop. How did all these fans get into the ground? There has to be an investigation. Aviva staff complying.
An insult to all Ulster fans.

And I have already explained this so I will say it again, playing 10 at age grade is completely different to playing the European champions in the Heineken cup, so yes it is unfamiliar! Yet he was still far better than the incumbent. Comparing playing 10 at age grade or a few minutes in the URC to playing 10 in this match, especially with the added pressure of the last two performances, is fcuking foolish. I’m a little surprised at you 9er, your posts are usually a little more sensible than this.UlsterNo9 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 9:51 pmStandup "How the fcuk can a player move to an unfamiliar position"
