There was a case not so long ago where a foreign national travelled north to have her baby so both her and her child could reside in the south. maybe that loophole was closed

I know this isn't the wish list thread but ..
We need a multi functional 6/8, more than a specialistic openside.
The player that would most interest me is Schalk Burger.
Big question - when does his Stormers contract end?

Just turned 29, hugely experienced, 6ft 4in , 17st 13 lbs & very agile.
Jake White ' The player with the highest pain threshold I have ever coached'
Torn ligaments in Feb & will miss england tests / be out til July.

Standard South African rugby thug. Not bad going forward but as a defender, the only time he uses his arms in the tackle is to wrap them around the neck.

Gets away with it in the SH ok but would be pinged every time in the Pro and HEC

As my mummy used to say "it's all fun and games until someone loses and eye."

Wouldn't have him about the place.

What about an out and out 7? I know Henry is coming on leaps and bounds but surely we need cover?

Think Birch is the backup 7.

what would be the point in signing a NIQ out and out 7 to be stuck behind Henry? Plus we have Birch to cover.

Henry has established himself as a 7, and I reckon he'll stay there. Birch as back up and an up-and-coming player.

We'll sign an 8. Wilson as back up. Not sure about the quality of our Academy 8s.

Ferris 6. Diack as back up, Henderson as an up-and-coming player.

Ruck, we will sign a 6/8, primarily to play 8. Ferris will only play a handful of league games due to injury/resting/6N so McCommish would be our only proper option at 6 other that Henry. Converting Henry back to a 6/8 is unfair, he's really started to learn his trade after two years so he should stay at openside, therefore a 6/8 will be good because when Fez doesnt play, said NIQ flanker can play 6 with Henry 7 and Diack/Wilson at 8, definitely not Diack to see, that experiment didnt work well...

That's basically what I just said in a lot more detail and with McComish at 6 instead of Diack...

Hope not! Diack, Wilson, McComish can cover 6 or 8 when 1F is away; who'll cover for CH when he gets his overdue call-up!? That's where the gap is IMHO.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!
