Why on earth attempt a drop goal in those conditions.
Should have held on to the ball and hoped for an Ospreys mistake to let us in or a penalty which would have been a lot more kickable.

Welcome back old Ulster. That was clearly another one of those games that we weren't targeting.

Wee dave and billy were pi$h poor today. Faddes is shyte.

Johnston did well when he came on. That drop goal was never on and we were making ground. Johnston is young and will learn from that. Wee dave is not young and I hold him entirely responsible not just for the way the game ended but also giving away the pen that allowed the Ospreys to take the lead.

Ospreys won the physical battle. Our kicking strategy was dreadful. We should have kicked the corners & made ospreys throw in the lineout from deep. Johnston was pretty good, burns was tom kite, and showed cooney needs to hold his hand.
Shanahan wasn’t helped by osp not rolling away at the breakdown but his service was dreadfully slow. McCloskey didn’t run onto the ball once. LL should have played 15 in those conditions not Gilroy or Faddes. The pack really was bested.

I have no issue with a drop goal.....but I do from that distance. Shanahan should have overruled Johnston. Continued to pick and go for more phases. I suspect they were worried re knocking on, but they should’ve trusted their skill set. Very very poor.
Only marcel & tot made yards in the carry. 2nd row poor, as was Rea & McBurney.
It may no longer be fashionable, but that was a game designed for An Ogara 10. Real lack of leadership on the pitch.

But then again he might have one of his lucky days and score a couple...

It all adds to the excitement
Six numbers and the bonus ball for the euromillions please

Really no smarts on display. Last phases, a penalty was coming. In fact I'd wager ref was going to give one right in front of the posts for not rolling away, only we clumsily held the player there and thereby removed the option.

The ping pong in the last 20 minutes was brutal. The only saving grace was they kept kicking it straight back at us.

Devoid of any sort of leadership.

We're a one-man team.

Stand Up for the Leinster Man.

It was a dumb pen to give away. He panicked when he dropped the ball and made it worse by playing it on the ground. Clear penalty.

Not all his fault but Shanahan is not good enough for this level. The gap between not only him and Cooney but also the back up 9's at all of the other provinces is enormous.

Burns has done well this season but i have felt he has had a bit of a free ride in terms of selection at times. The Ireland call ups are also partly due to a dearth of alternatives. Would like to see Lowry or Johnston get a proper chance to challenge him. He may well still be the best but let's get some proper depth here.

Refs in general but especially in UR last two matches being very soft on not rolling away and the lazy body lying around at the maul. Shannners tbf often impeded by bodies that weren't supposed to be there.
Drop kick option with such slow service always a risky choice.
But it wasn't the last two minutes that cost ulster the match, it was the preceding 78 minutes.

When was the last time we weren't totally rudderless and predictable after a couple of weeks off?
