I thought the flag was in play?
The flag base is on the line. Out of play.

Given the shape of a rugby ball and the thinness of the flag pole is it even physically possible for the ball to touch the actual base of the flag while it is in the ground? I can't see how that would be possible

I suppose it's France.

The 6N rivalling the Pro12 for mediocrity.
Team Barnsey and Pearse mate.

The flag cover is probably 4x4. He grounded the ball on the line anyway.

Yes, The base of the flag is a moot point as it is impossible for the ball to touch it (image A below)_
Image B suggests the ball grazed the whitewash - not conclusively mind!

Okay, I'll rise to the bait . . . but only to distract myself for a short while, not because this deserves any response.

Lame effort Liam

Very Liam effort!

However, I must admit, there are times when even I have to applaud how well some teams or some individuals have played in a match or even a tournament.

Hat's off therefore to Wyn Jones on who single-handedly had a player sent off in each of Wales' most crucial matches during the 6N.

Against Ireland and Scotland, the two red cards opponents got clearing him out of rucks handed Wales most unlikely wins. So much so, they should be renamed Wyns rather than wins. Against England, the ref and his team of officials contrived to give Wales a massive advantage early on, so he had no need to repeat the trick, and against Italy - well, everyone can beat Italy without the help from the officials.

It wasn't Wyn Jones' fault that Wales couldn't Wyn against France despite them going down to 14 - I think the blame there lies with a couple of his teammates who failed to back up his efforts by getting themselves binned, thus turning a one man advantage into a one man deficit for the last 10 minutes or so of the match. I can't remember who those two idiots were, even though I feel like one of the names is on the tip of my tongue.

Whoever those two numpties were, they owe Wyn Jones an apology - he had done his part to give Wales an advantage - again, but they undermined that.

I'll be honest - sometimes you just have to acknowledge how good one player is at one particular skill. What is this power that Wyn Jones has that he can brings out the worst in opponents while he is standing around innocently at rucks? He has now become so good at getting opponents red-carded for clearing him out at rucks, he can do it with his eyes closed . . . well, with one eye closed anyway. >EW

Very happy to see Ire appear to have a more pragmatic approach and kick for goal to keep score board ticking over rather than slavishly to the corner. Sextons 24/25 6ns kick success should also be recognised.

Yes. None of the trademark misses from just mid range right of the posts.

I don't really give a feck, but is it head to head or points diff if Wales and France are tied on points?

Points diff then, if required, number of tries.

Points difference first - France need to win by 21 clear points. Then tries are taken into account - Wales are 5 ahead of France in this regard.
