TRANSFER RUMOURS!!

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
I think it is Leinster. Apparently Cullen's retiring at the end of the season and Schmidt doesn't think Toner is up to it. Problem is all their NIQ spots are filled so one will have to go, presumably Leo Auva'a.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Not a fan of Bekker, always thought he was a penalty machine coupled with being a Warren Gatland

Sounds like he will fit in well thenRuss wrote:Not a fan of Bekker, always thought he was a penalty machine coupled with being a carpet

Not to do with Ulster but didn't see that one coming if it happens

You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.
Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
Standard tactics of an agent...create the perception of lots of interest in your client just before you sit down for contract negotiations with their existing club.
Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
Has anyone seen the BOD programme thats on Sky sports, Total Rugby Special or something its called?
Half hr interview with BOD in front of a live audience, talking about the usual things in his career - Lions try in Aus, hat trick agianst France, the Mealumu/Umaga incident etc. One thing they asked him was about the appearance in Biarritz. He commented that he had been sent [by his agent] 'to be spotted' in Biarritz and watching a game in order to get the IRFU to make a counter offer to their demands. He said he felt fairly embarassed by it, especially when it got over egged in the press due to Biarritz having him do public appearances there, but as he said, it worked.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
Rodge to the Miami Dolphins was a personal favourite.
I couldn't imagine the IRFU being too keen on letting Sexton go but the French are currently throwing around crazy money and with Racing allegedly having signed Roberts, Tonga'Huia and Mujati, with presumably more to come, it could pan out. Either that or the IRFU will bend over and throw a ludicrous amount of money at him to keep him here ala the reputed €350,000 to Heaslip last time out.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
Also agree with your point about clubs avoiding Salary Caps LK, clearly Sarries are avoiding it with the size of their current squad and Vunipola and Johnstone both set to join.
Still, wouldn't be surprised to see Sexton leave. Performance wise this season they have been good at best but average for the most, could be a case of jump ship for him because he knows things could get worse with BOD so close to retirement, and its not exactly a secret that BOD is key to their HEC success.

Chris Henry is superhuman... I think he's half cyborg
Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS!!
The IRFU have previously made an exception on the selection policy for Bowe (and Murphy to a lesser extent), and if this move happens, probably will do for Sexton as well. The upside is that another Irish fly half (Madigan) will get proper game time at a top club. The downside is that other 'shoe ins' will probably follow Sexton if he goes.

The transfers and speculation thread
So with the new year coming in there is plenty of business for other clubs to do, thought I would open this thread to keep up to date with where non-Ulster players are off too:
Bryan Habana - Stormers to Toulon
Billy Vunipola - Wasps to Sarries
James Johnston - Quins to Sarries
Filo Paulo - North Harbour to Cardiff

What about this one: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4996&hilit=merry+go+round
Re: The transfers and speculation thread
Nobody really kept that one going. If someone tabbed this one and kept it at the top with the transfer rumours then maybe it would be kept going better.ColinM wrote:What about this one: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4996&hilit=merry+go+round
