The Polish people have suffered from brutal invasions in the past but this could be the worst one yet.

Not a great selection tommorrow.
Poland will be a good game

For the avoidance of any doubt I am in a happy relationship so will be doing no invasions or being invaded

Japan not good enough to take advantage of an extra man. 1-1 at half time. Columbia really could do with winning this if they want to get into the next round.

Well now Japan did manage to win 2-1.

Poland very poor so far. 2-0 down and hard to see them getting back on level terms. Pain in the ballix.

At least they are going about things the right way.
Good manager, young side, creating a media friendly atmosphere.
Zero expectations on them for a change so it's a free hit.
England weren't great but a W is all that counts.
As you say though Shan I don't think there's too many weaker groups other than Russia's so they can't crow on about being unlucky as usual but I'm sure they'll give it a damn good go.
.
Poland are shocking btw.
I can't believe this is the same side that beat us so handily in the Euros.

Me, my pal Al and a hundred or so Lionels watched the game in the clubhouse last night. The Lionels it has to be said were extremely well behaved, not a chair thrown nor a glass smashed, no foreigners stabbed kicked or punched, not even a racist salute nor shout, albeit there was one old octogenarian coffin-dodging biddy with a St George's cross fleg with England writ large on it, a wizened wee 70 something man in a St George wifebeater, who may have defined the saying "you are how you dress" - it may have been Jesus, he of the strappy airconditioned sandals, who coined that one.

There were even some incredibly polite chaps who spent the evening slouched down in their seats so as not to block my view. Remarkable, I may have stumbled on a nest of atypical Lionels who are not entirely unlikeable. How jolly.

In the circumstances, and to my enormous surprise, I did not begrudge them their late winner, though that has much to do with the Tunisians being the poor man's Switzerland, the disgusting nation of prostitutes - financial & otherwise - who tried to kick Brazil off the pitch much as Portugal did in 1966. As such I'd happily have burnt a Tunisian fleg had their been one to hand and I did see one slightly dusky chap in atypical wear scuttling away on the final whistle who may have secreted one on his person.

England have a handy route to the quarter finals. They will play the winner/runner up of today's group (H), a poor group, should they win the group or finish as a runner up. They also had a handy qualifying group.

Have to admit the media and supporters circus seems to be less objectionable than usual.
It's a trap I tell you!

Russia 3 nil up. Egypt lacking quality. Mo Salah is about 5% fit.

Yeah of course Baz. Getting an opening win is important and may settle them a bit. Handy next game too will help them to get that momentum going. Though they won't find it easy against Belgium but still second in the group would do them anyway.

Both Egypt and Saudi are a joke in terms in football. Egypt have one top class player and at most a couple more who could be described as competent. Saudi are about as good as an Irish league team.

Russia really managed to get themselves the handiest group possible. Though I can understand why FIFA would want any host country to get through the first round.
