Dunno why we bother signing all these ex Leinster players. Theyโ€™re not good enough to make the team.

Very bold from Dan. Doesn't shy away from the big calls. 6-2 bench is interesting. Not a lot of cover in the backline if we ship a couple of injuries.

6/2 split on bench? Dan clearly has a plan to outsmart Plug...

Ulster by 10.

Great to see Hendie back, good side- I like the back three, looks set to attack right from the off. Big calls on 6-2 bench split and Cooney not starting is a surprise but Matthewson was livelier last week. Hope they give a good account of themselves.

Some interesting selections here: Mathewson for Cooney, Lowry at full back and two back row replacements. Plus Hendo coming back.

McFarland must have a plan for Leinster! Can't wait.

Agreed Merv. Happy with those calls and as KOTH we've gone with form - and some great bench options. Nordi and Treadwell maybe a little unlucky for different reasons. Interesting to see how Cooney does with genuine competition, he's not quite been firing since the restart so Mathewson is good money. Cooney to come on with a point to prove/chip on the shoukder might work well for us yet.

Jackman on the 42 pod yesterday was singing Dan's praises and had a good bit to say on the plan for the HC QF last year. Good to see Lowry in and Timoney as an impact option adds pace if the game goes that way. All suggests a specific plan in mind to attack Leinster - just trying to stay in the game isn't necessarily going to work, as Munster showed.

Still a massive ask and we'd still be reliant on things going against Leinster given their likely strength, but all things considered I'm happy with that. SUFTUM! :fleg:

Dare I say, the Ulster bench looks stronger.

Goal kicking could be an issue.
