For reference, in the benchmark nadir season of 2007/2008 Ulster also played 18 in the league, won 6 drew 1 and lost 11. No Italians or Saffer teams then but we managed to finish below Dragons and just above bottom placed Connacht. Still qualified for the Champions Cup of course because of the 3 guaranteed Irish spots in those days.
