I'd take Carter in the absence of a replacement. I'd give TH a better go than Milo, and I'm busted

Leinster cast offs are that for a reason they ain’t good enough to make the Leinster 23
Number of backrowers outside the Leinster 23 I’d take (Deegan, Connors, Ruddock …..) but no they are all happy to stay in D4 while we sign up Jones for another year.

We should be trying to push through some of our younger back rows (McLaughlin, Crothers, McNabney) rather than giving Jones an extension - he’ll be 28 next year & shown he isn’t at the level needed.

Can’t wait to see what comes tomorrow - Matty Rea on a 4 year deal likely!
We seem to specialise in single-faceted backrowers.

Outside of the starters on Saturday, there’s one who can tackle, one who can jackal, one who can claim a lineout and one with a great rugby brain.

Can we not just melt them down or something?

He will never be good enough, why waste another minute on him?
Yup. Exactly the point and evidence for the prosecution

Jordi retiring then
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

No wonder Henderson is at least thinking of life beyond Ulster… if I was him I’d go third choice heading for fourth for Ireland … if it wasn’t for the World Cup I suspect he be gone already

Won’t make much difference to UR if he goes. He hardly plays for us anyway.

Jones has coaching attributes apparently.

I see Shea scored a couple of tries at the weekend as Armagh made 1A for the first time.

Congrats to them - nice setting at the Palace Grounds.

This wailing and gnashing of teeth rehgarding Jones etc is pash poor. He obviously offers a lot in training. Not every squad player is a match day player.

I suppose Jones is a bit like Ian Madigan- I’ve heard a lot of reports of him being great with younger players, I know Harry Sheridan has spoken about him before. That sort of impact can be undervalued

Jones must be peak Billy Connolly with the charm of a suitcase full of cash. Fair feck to him. Woeful recruitment from Ulster.

That's what a decent NIQ that also has the ability to smash the opposition and win us tight games with big moments, is supposed to do.

Not what our 7th (at best, according to my list below [and I'm probably forgetting someone given Dan's schizo backrow selections]) string backrower should be tasked with.

C’mon surely we need to expect more than that - at a minimum someone who can push on to be a match day player rather squad trainer. Academy guys can do that.

Appreciate we probably aren’t spending big bucks on Jones but he should be in is prime (turning 28) by the end of this contract & hasn’t shown to be the standard we need.

Why not cut ties & look for a younger alternative, someone with a higher ceiling. Surely there are a few young guys on the periphery at Leinster & tearing up AIL 1A would be an option?

I would disgree, front line players need to be training against skill and experience... pure muscle from the academy isnt enough.

NFL teams have a non playing roster for just this purpose
