Agreed.
The impact off the bench today demonstrated what should have been last week.
A chance entirely blown for a series win.
Rather annoyed

1 prop not used
1 second row and backrow used too late

1 9 only there because he said he was retiring and his ineptitude cost us dearly
1 "utility" back who only knows to put his head down and get turned over whilst losing yards
1 excellent back who looked like he was told to stay out of the way and not mess up

the use of the bench was a disgrace. I know McGrath can play for 80 minutes, but it doesn't mean he should.

also been said TOH is away to hospital, and that he tried to play on despite being very very sore. bit surprised he was allowed to stay on if he's now been taken to hospital as a precaution

And when he went off what was Joes plan?

Healy can play FB
Earls seemed to be there most of the time
Then quiffy came on ...

once TOH came off I couldn't have told you who was FB.

Clueless squad usage has cost us this series.
U20s getting stuffed
Footballers lose.
Feck it all.

A ridiculous performance from Glenn Jackson as a referee, he decided early on that he wasn't going to challenge the Boks to be onside. The dereliction of duty in not sending off the SA full-back for the challenge is a quite blatant home town decision. Fair play to the Ireland team in general and our lads specifically. Rory led like a hero and it's a shame that he hasn't got the reward that he deserves.

Ireland achieved a lot. Won for the first time in SA. Blooded lots of young players. Were competitive in all three tests.
No repeat of the day of infamy in Hamilton,60 nil.
All with 8 or 9 front liners in the injury bay back home.

Do I hear "Schmidt out"? Ah yes,

Ferg can play 42 positions but all off the bench though

Must be a glitch in matrix

In fairness on the card decision we have complained about cards based on outcomes rather than the action and at any post match hearing the chances are the panel could well have come to a split decision and a one week ban not one which totally supports the ref .

The point was O'H went up very high to get the ball and the SA was ball watching when jumping .

But if it had happened in Ireland there would have been a red in my opinion .

Jackson got some decisions right and many wrong making up offences

What has been learned Ireland have the making of a front row without Healy and Ross but need a replacement for Best sooner rather than later .

The second row needs more time to reach potential

The back row could be the most difficult to pick with any number of combinations .

The backline needs time but how much game time would Jackson Marshall and Olding have had if the Leinster trio of Sexton and Kearneys not been injured and where would Fitzballoon have fitted into the backline .

While the Irish bench looked strong in the forwards the backline bench for all 3 test games looked uninspiring to say the least .

In the fallout we should be disappointed not to have won the series.
Those marginal calls you never get against a Sh side particular at home so theres no sense in lamenting.

However a lot more positives to be gained than negatives.
Great to see Olding finding his feet as his Ulster buddies have done previously.
We have a good depth up front too.
All happened by luck more than Joes judgement but we've got there.
No we just need a gameplan and a strategy to help cut these lads loose.
