I wonder would O’Toole have a crack at it. He could well be quite suited to it, and lets face it he’s stalled somewhat at tighthead. Lets hope he picks up either way

It's going to take O'Toole developing a good bit more static power to make him truly effective in the scrum, he's plenty of time though.

He turned 20 years old in September just gone by, to say he has stalled at tighthead is a little unfair it's incredible at his age he's playing professional rugby in such a physically demanding position.

24 months and 12kgs will stand him in good stead.

Has Herbst ever completed 80 minutes for Ulster? Not sure why he went off at halftime on Saturday but I honestly can't remember the last time I saw him play and not go off injured.

It must have been a planned thing.

He spent the entire 2nd half doing 'exercises' in front of the North Stand, looking like a sumo wrestler carrying out the obligatory ceremonial formalities before trying to grab his opponent's underpants.

Dave,

Start a rumour about the band and see if they deny that one. :thumleft:

Wonder if it's possible that the Herbst -> Bulls move was a thing, then Ulster pulled the plug after Kyle's injury at the weekend.

As things stand he's not someone I'd want to see go. He hasn't shown much in the last couple of seasons, but he's been plagued by injuries, so I'm not sure how practical it is to judge him on the basis of that. When he first came across there were times he really looked the part; he's put in more than his fair share of bun crunching tackles.

We've Moore, Kane and O'Toole plus Herbst. He's probably 4th choice at present or if not he's not exactly head and shoulders above Kane and O'Toole but yet is most likely commanding a salary greater than the two nippers combined.

I can see the logic on him moving on.

Would he be in the matchday squad at any of the other three provinces if fully fit? I think not and for that reason ship him on.

I'd of little him walk / waddle back from Dublin after his 40 minutes at the weekend.

What's the succession plan at tighthead? Is there anything imminent from the academy at tighthead?
