QUALITY REFEREEING AGAIN? Disallowed try?

Post by for dog and ulcer »

Words fail me. When will we get a fair run? Another one to add the list of refereees I don't want to see again. 10 metres from a penalty? No. Offside if you are a Leinster player? No. Can't comment on the disallowed try as was unsighted. Your views?

Dog
It was a howler and yes the ref was sh1te but we should have finfished them off in the first half. Our backs have two problems, one they are not street wise and this was laid bare once again this evening, second Maggs has run his course he has little pace and his ball handling skills are not up to scratch for the new type of game Ulster are now playing. Fitzpatrick, it was good to see him back but he has a way to go to return to his best.
The trouble with referees is that they just don't care which side wins - Tom Canterbury.

Ulster proud sponsors of Comical Eddie!

Yes! We have to lose Maggs and settle our back line, to lose to a crappy Leinster team is unforgiveable!!!

The referee sent off Easterby, and didn't punish Matt's freqeunt off-the-ball incidents. What more do you want? We were poor.

couldn't see the disallowed try as we were all busy celebrating  why was it disallowed? was the ball spilled as he was putting it down?

I think that was the argument. there was certainly nothing wrong with the catch.

It looked as if it might have been knocked on. I thought the ref was OK. Everytime a ref gives a decision against Ulster he seems to be a poor referee. I agree with Aaron, Matty was lucky to stay on the field. At a kick off he made no attempt to play the ball and went straight for the Leinster player. Meanwhile OKelly gave him a lesson in catching the high ball from the kickoff. Not something we are very good at. Take note Matt!

Also the ref should have played advantage at the end to Leinster instead of blowing for an Ulster knock on, close to the line. Leinster would have scored and denied us the bonus which we just about deserved.

Yeah, i thought that was a very strange call. So strange I was convinced that it must have been a leinster knock-on, giving the decision to us. Why else would he have stopped play?

Strange decision indeed but he had blown the whistle for firstly a forward pass then the knock on, before it was obvious that Leinster were going to score

I didnt see any of the game of course, but I did do something last night that I havent done for a very long long long time. I watch Match of the Day. God soccer is awful.

But - to what I saw - there were about 5 or 6 sets of highlights shown. In at least 4 of them there were God awful howlers of decisions made by the ref which in 2 cases probably resulted in the match being lost. I was incensed at the inability of these guys to see clear handballs from a clear sighted position no further than 30 feet away.

Awful - just down right awful. Its way beyond time that ALL such games have a Tele judge on hand for the entire game.

That aside, if you play crap it doesnt matter how bad any of the officials are - you will get crap.

I have to say that Mr Clancy was probably the best refereee we have at ravenhill this season. I down at the far end and from where I was it did look as if either Bowe or Trimble (can't remember which) had knocked it on as they went up for it with the Leinster winger. Then for the second incident Tommy definitely knocked on when trying to pick it up low down. The only people who lost us the match were ourselves. We had the 2 golden oppurtunities in the second half and didn't take either of them whereas Leinster did, plus we missed an easy penalty in the first half and it was a missed kick to touch from our penalty which led to one of their tries. Let's stop blaming the referee every time we lose a game. On the night Leinster especially O'Kelly and Gleeson in the pack were better than Ulster. Gleeson was deservedly MOM.

And maybe now Ireland will resolve the openside wing forward problem.
