Ireland v Italy in Berlin

Post by Neil F »

Moving to Berlin for a few months and was wondering if anyone knew of a decent place to watch the remaining RWC matches in the city?

Never been but there seems to be more than the fair share of Irish pubs there. Oft see this place advertised in in-flight magagines on the big orange planes http://www.harp-pub.de/

I'm pretty sure it was in the Kilkenny that I watched a Heineken cup game a couple of years back - it's kind of under railway arches, Irish staff, Sky

there's an irish pub in the europa centre on Kurfürstenstraße where i watched ireland v scotland in a six nations some years ago. was in berlin a couple of weeks ago and the pub was still there. the kilkenny is probably nicer but you have two options at least!

if you're living there, i can also recommend this little bar - http://www.wuergeengel.de/de/index.html - which doesn't show rugby but does have lovely waitresses who serve Black Bush with a little jug of water on the side at a very reasonable price :D

Seem to remember watching matches in both Kilkenny and the one in the Europa Centre. Kilkenny opens early and does breakfasts so probably best bet. It's signposted from station. The one in the Europa centre started up a rather noisy karaoke during a game!

must check that out - and if we're recommending other non-rugby bars, then can I put a word in for die assel ('the cockroach') kind of underground on Oranienburgerstrasse, class place, Kostritzer on tap, and when I was there an awesome bargirl or two. Also a class place on Tucholskystrasse schwarz-something, decent food, certainly by German standards, again hot bargirls

Hey, I'm currently living in Berlin and I have been watching the World Cup in a Little Mexican restaurant near to Kottbustor and gorlitzer. Its called Santa Maria (i'll leave the link here). Good atmosphere and usually a good number of Irishmen in there.
