Re: 2012 schools Cup.
Really cant see any of the bigger teams losing, although Ballymena could MAYBE cause an upset. Semi Finalists will be INST, Wallce, Methody and then either BMena/CCB.
From what i've seen from games played this season, Methody are pure class and Wallace have shown glimpsies of excellence, so I will go for that as a final, setting up a Methody win.
As regards future stars I have seen a few.
Dave Cave from Sullivan, number 8 (apparently related to our very own Darren) looks promising although as he is only 5th year it will be a case of can he live up to expectations. Jack Owens from Campbell also seems pretty handy, can play 10,12,13 but I think hes playing for 13 for CCB 1XV. Peter Weir from Wallace, scrum half looks good although a bit on the small side, brilliant feet. Nathan McClatchey plays full back for Wallace firsts and has a few medals at Irish Schools Running. He wasnt playing on Saturday but from what I seen of him earlier in the season hes obivously got pace given his Irish Schools record but hes also got a good step and a decent kicker. Kyle McCalls brother, back rower, not sure what hes called, also looks good, lower 6th and probably the Wallace firsts best ball carrier. Jordon Heatley, winger, also looks excellent. very strong runner, scored a very good try on Saturday, seems a good finisher. Havent been to many INST games where there has been any very good indiviual preformances but Ben Alexander looks a future Star. And as said before, Mark Gribben is top class, absoloute unit.

Re: 2012 schools Cup.
Being at the Wallace game I thought they were mediocre at best.
Nathan McClatchey - fantastic player, very fast, great feet, natural born try scorer. One problem, injured his collarbone earlier this year, if he injures it one more time he's gone for good. Very unfortunate.
Jordan Heatley - same as Nathan only isn't just as good.
Kyle's brother is called Zack - very good ball carrier.
Peter Weir - good, but honestly I've seen better.
Don't think Wallace will make it past semis. Rely on home advantage too much.

You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

I know people there
I very occasionally attend matches. Saturday was my first in a long time and they didn't impress me. Semi final standards at best I'd say and probably got the luck of the draw.
McClatchey and Heatley are both great wingers though. Back them both to go far.

I am literally just basing my opinions on what I saw on Saturday and what I have heard elsewhere. I would do the same for any other school had I gone to their match on Saturday.

Re: 2012 schools Cup.
MCB will win if their coaches can influence the referee as they do in most games. Watched the MCB v Ballymena medallion match, first half MCB were getting the worse of it Ballymena by far the better team. Half time talk by MC B coaches including a mr N Annett to the ref and guess what in first ten minutes if second half MC B had at least 8 penalties and where in the lead.
Same old ploy by MCB they play the ref maybe we should get their coaches in the Ulster set up and see if they can do the same thing

Re: 2012 schools Cup.
What a load of nonsense! I suppose MCB influenced the ref today at Foxes field when they beat Campbell College 14 v 7 in the Medallion Shield? Having just come back from watching Methody beat Armagh 20 v 13 in the seconds cup I can tell you the referee did us no favors whatsoever.
My understanding is that Ballymena had a good first half against Methody but ran out of steam in the second half against a very gritty side coached by two gentlemen in the guise of Colin Martin and Niall Annette who would not try to curry favor with any official.

Re: 2012 schools Cup.
I take it you are an ex Ballymena man Bopeep?...
Re: 2012 schools Cup.
No not a Ballymena man and I stand by everything I said I know one of te MCB coaches very well and he even told me that they usually have have stern words with the officials at half time.
MCB are well known for it. Ballymena did not run out of steam just had a ref who was knobbled and the penalty count showed it
