Great knock from Paul Stirling with 6 sixes. And an unlucky dismissal.
Even before the protocol he had to register as a British born British passport holder " overseas player " in the English league!! Technically because he was an Irish international cricketer.

He was caught behind.

Became an overseas player after Ireland were granted Test status - swings and roundabouts……?

A great eye, nonetheless, and very entertaining to watch.

Not 31 yet, surprisingly enough, so should make a few quid on the slogging circuit.

Yep
I just meant the ball was both low and wide and he got an under edge. Clearly very annoyed!

It was a bit of a soft dismissal but he wasn’t as annoyed as Livi!

Another couple of overs (or whatever they’re called these days) of him and it would have been game on.

Mark wood out of next test, injuring himself with a clumsy And ill timed dive trying to save a 4. Nuts
Main strike bowlers should not be trying this.
Nonsense

You can’t hide anyone these days and It’s not like he’s 6 foot four and 18 stone.

Pope and Billings have shown you can do far worse to your shoulder when fielding if you’re a small batter.

These things happen.

It’s frustrating because he’d looked about the fittest he’d ever been.

Didn't Derek Pringle once pull something drawing the curtains?

(Not a euphemism btw ... at least, not in this context!)

What a difference a day makes.

It’s the opening stand that gives cause for real optimism.

We know Burns is nuggety once he gets in but if NH has truly remembered how to bat then that’s a real boost.

England really should have been as save that test on the last day. Great bowling by Bumrah post lunch but even with his wickets they should have been able to hold on.
Batsmen don't get big scores and have 1 reasonae innings per test. Am excluding Root here obviously.

Absolutely
Asking the top 6 or 7 specialist batsmen to average 50 each would have got there. But some tremendous bowling and a disastrous run out sealed the deal.
Well played India

Losing Pope, Bairstow and Ali like that didn’t leave us anywhere to go.

India showing the win Down Under was no fluke. They are an experienced and resilient outfit with no shortage of ability.

I reckon Pant’s knock hasn’t got the credit it deserved.
