Mr Browne the sensitive fascist
In trying to get a big screen in place at City Hall the majority of our elected councillors seem to be in favour
However, longstanding UUP man Davy Browne was the only elected member to oppose the proposal. He said: “I would ban it (rugby) if I had anything to do with it. I think it is barbaric.”
Is he taking the Pee or is he serious

We dont need the English to win the European Cup
Re: Mr Browne the sensitive fascist
As an Ulster Unionist I find this extremely amusing. Considering how many members I know got to Ravenhill, where in Limerick and Dublin and also the many including myself heading to Twickenham

He's kinda a fish out of water in so far as in a "normal" country he'd probably be a member of a socialist/labour aligned party, but he's fundamentally pro-union and no such party exists in NI.
He nearly walked over the Tory/UUP joint ticket and is generally a champion of the "ordinary working man in the street"....
Rugby is for toffs etc.

Hang on, Is this (salaried?) Public servant for real?
a) We are talking about one of the biggest and most prestigious European sporting events,
b) An event scheduled to be watched live on television by tens of thousands right across the Continent,
c) An all Irish final, played in one of the biggest and most historic sporting arenas in the world, during which top class Irish sportsmen, and both sets of (fantastic!) fans will be showcased to the world,
d) A final played in the same year when Belfast is showcasing her Titanic heritage in an attempt to lure American tourist dollars into the province .
And this "elected". yes, you know who you all are, official doesn't think this historic event is deserving of a big screen outside City Hall?
I'm practically speechless!!!...........Quick, The smelling salts Petunia!

Re: Mr Browne the sensitive fascist
I know Wighty its incredible.Im almost embarrassed for him
I think that Mr Browne must have been trying to do his bit for the shortcomings of his local soccer team by taking out his Penis envy on the Toffee nosed Rugger Boys .He would perceive both fans and players alike as not in his remit, which of course is a falsity as UR attracts fans and players from all of Ulster society albeit that the Grammar schools supply most of our playing core.
In His defence I have heard people talk of the attractive brutishness of rugby union but that was mainly in the Gay bars of Belfast where myself and a few friends used to amble for a late night drink after a match LOL and in truth the Belfast Titans were perfect ambassadors for the sport amongst the Rainbow community .So in conclusion I am wondering where did they go wrong with Mr Browne ?

Actually Namron I am embarrassed for him. Embarrassed for his small mindedness and ignorance.
A total and utter PR DISASTER for the City.
Even down here in Carrotville our elected officials are fully atune to PROMOTING the Island, not making it a laughing stock.
Out to pasture I say............ Sell by date well and truly up.

My dear friends, I fully concur.Wee Woman wrote:Majority (if not all) of our politicians are a joke shop anyway - no news here
Some of our politicians are very very strange people. Others just have some strange notions.
I met Cedric Wilson a week or so back and I have always found Cedric to be a thoroughly nice guy but I wouldn't share his political views or close to it.
Another politician I used to deal with on a professional capacity who I won't name (partly because I can't remember the little turd's name, though sadly the little ballix's face remains clear in my memory), I found to be a completely untrustworthy scumbeg who it always gave me great pleasure to bounce his cheques when he overstepped his limits on a regular basis. I also knew from a golfing friend who was in a precise position to know, that he regularly disputed items that he had charged up, on the hill, even when confronted with his own signature by my friend. A greedy little fecker and precisely the sort of opportunistic lowlife who bangs a loyal drum & reaps the votes of the unwise/terribly stupid.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

I am speechless but thankfully can still type. I cannot believe the one-eyed, ignorance of this little waste of skin and public money.
Hold on, I'm not speechless, it's what we always expect from our elected representatives. In any other post, in any other profession the lot of them would have been sacked a long time ago, in fact they'd never have been shortlisted for the job in the first place. That this little pillock can insult the only high profile, fully inclusive sport on this island and something we can all be utterly proud of is surely good enough to earn his place in the dustbin.

Davy Browne - the only man they couldn't make more funny on the 'Folks on the Hill'
Always ask yourself, "What would Big Rodney do"... And every time the answer is... "Eat It"

Eh, I take it you've never seen him?
For the avoidance of any doubt, he's a councillor in my ward at home.
