Why does Tiger Woods play so badly in the Ryder Cup?
Puzzling indeed. The only answers I can come up with are - who cares & ain't it just dandy.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

He's invented a new game format...3 ball better ball. His partner plays the opposition while he hokes in the trees for lost Pro V1s

The yanks are playing good golf, but the European big names are not stepping up.....including our Rory.

In fairness to Poulter, not my favourite player but he has balls of steel
10-6, they are stuffed.
When I see the singles draw I'll give you the margin & winners Snipe. Depends on teh draw but I'd say the result will be around 17.5 to 10.5

Re: Why does Tiger Woods play so badly in the Ryder Cup?
Ok, singles draw is:
Bubba Watson v Luke Donald
Bubba is a massive hitter, on a course where being offline doesn't matter Bubba will overpower Luke's steady play
Webb Simpson v Ian Poulter
Poulter in towering form, finishing with 5 straight birdies last night but this is tough to call, Poulter in a close one.
Keegan Bradley v Rory McIlroy
Bradley putting like a dream,Rory not. Unless Rory starts putting, a tough day
Phil Mickelson v Justin Rose
Mickelson having fun but susceptible to pressure but Rose isn't holing putts either possible half but Phil might get hot.
Snedeker v Lawrie
I like Lawrie but he is past this I fear, big win for Snedeker
D Johnson v Colsaerts
Two huge hitters, close one possible half
Z Johnson v McDowell
I want to say GMac but unless his putter warms up its trouble, Johnston is steady & putts extra well. Fear for GMac but he will win if he starts putting
Furyk v Garcia
Mr Beaky is a tough old boy & Sergio makes too many mistakes these days especially on the greens - oh dear USA again
Dufner v Hanson
If there was a God he would strike Hanson down with gastro problems - landslide to the Duffmeister way above Hanson's pay grade
Kuchar v Westwood
Westwood can't handle fast greens, Kuchar can.
Stricker v Kaymer
two men scratching around for form any result possible but Stricker will probably come through with no pressure on his match as the cup will already be won.
Woods v Molinari
Woods, the most selfish of golfers, will pick up his game sufficiently as singles is the only part of his record he is interested in, then throw in Molinari's putting woes & its Woods but I'd give my left ball to see Molinari whip him good.
Of course things never ever go quite to form and anyone who knows anything about golf knows a few will turn out differently, so I will just say I expect a result in the region of at best 17-11 to USA and worst case 19-9 to USA.
Both captains are real gents, some have been able to play the part, these are the real deal. Sadly Jose has a team where hardly anyone but Poulter & to a lesser extent Colsaerts look comfortable on the greens. Davis has used his home captains prerogative to set the course up for big hitting & quality putting & its worked a treat, this has been won on the greens. Strange to see a US course left so defenceless but Davis understood how to get the job done. Fair play to him, he's a classy guy on & off the course.
Landslide, as predicted on Friday, sometimes I hate being right.

If only the yanks were led by anyone other than Davis Love I could get my anger up, but along with Mickelson and the late Payne Stewart, Davis is one truly admirable yank.

Re: Why does Tiger Woods play so badly in the Ryder Cup?
You maybe know this Snipe but it stands retelling anyway. He played Costantino Rocca at the Belfry many years ago & Rocca from a great position lost to Davis. Rocca was distraught, believing he had lost the Ryder Cup and was unconsolable in the team room accompanied by the ever tearful Seve & not even he could bring Costantino around.Snipe Watson wrote:If only the yanks were led by anyone other than Davis Love I could get my anger up, but along with Mickelson and the late Payne Stewart, Davis is one truly admirable yank.
Whilst all team-mates were a whoopin' n'ahollerin at their remarkable win against the odds David asked a European where Costantio was & was told the story. Davis went straight to the European team room and wouldn't leave until Costantino was fit to go with him.
Good guy. I also understand that he was one of the few yanks, with Payne Stewart who always went to join the European victory parties. Ya think he might have bumped into Tiger there?
Apart from setting up the course to suit his team, he also seems to have overcome the usual edginess you tend to see from many of the USA rookies.
A good job well done, hats off to the guy.

He wouldn't bump into Tiger at the US team party either.....................or in the middle of a fairwayBaggyTrousers wrote:

Lot of tentative Yankees at present, far too early to be getting optimistic but doing very well. Even as it sits the Yanks have enough to win but a good start.

What I can't understand is why Rory hasn't wrapped a 9 iron round Bradley's head before now ...

New territory for most of 'em. It's usually the Europeans' Bangors that have to hold steady on the final day.BaggyTrousers wrote:Lot of tentative Yankees at present, far too early to be getting optimistic but doing very well. Even as it sits the Yanks have enough to win but a good start.

Bubba - Bradley ... you've only one bullet ... bad choice to be faced with

Can't understand why he doesn't perform, after all he allegedly liked 4 somes etc
Re: Why does Tiger Woods play so badly in the Ryder Cup?
My theory on Tigger is that when he plays well he zones everything out and plays his game his way.
On fourball/foursomes you obviously need to adapt to your partner andin some ways its harder to get into the game. Even on singles day in the Ryder cup you need to react to what your opposition player is doing, thats not Woods

Neither - Lee Westwood (or Tiger, obviously)Cornerfleg wrote:Bubba - Bradley ... you've only one bullet ... bad choice to be faced with
