Stevie Ferris

Post by ColinM »

Was it ankle or knee in the end?

Seriously think that it has to be considered laying him up for 6 or 7 months and then bringing him back for pre season.

Looks out now for the AIs. When he plays hes trying not to get injured. No lions coach is gonna bring him on the plane for him to fly home again in a few days. Would a proper rest lengthen his career by a year or two?

Mediocre only by his own meteoric standards. Not mediocre in any other sense.

The sad fact is that when we have such other options, Ferris needs to be match fit now to justify his place in the team, but when will he ever be match fit?

I agree with Mr.Elephant. In my opinion, he needs a break from rugby for a bit, give his body a chance to heal.

Colin his knee is fked afaik. A year or two off wont matter if he injures it again, its never going to be 100% again.

He's had three injuries this season (before tonight). None of them knee related....

I think both injuries were on that right ankle and not the knee IIRC. Stevie is becoming very fragile and even with all the wrapping in cotton wool that BMcL did last season and MA this season he's still picking up lots of injuries. He needs a prolonged rest but he'll be a big loss.

I may have missed something but it seemed to me that his knee went without any great collision, need to see it on TV.

You have to fear for the big man. Suspect he would have gone off straight away if there wasn't an international game next week. Think he tried to stay on to give himself a chance.

Even worse big Lewis looked bad also, running out of 2nd rows.

It was his right ankle.
I fear for Stevie. It could be close to the end of his glittering career.

Was about to say the same thing. With so many injuries, his Ireland career is in doubt, and with Henderson coming through and playing well, his Ulster career is the same.

Just watched it back on TV - the man's nearly crying, he's in immense pain. This could be VERY bad.

You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

I think mentally as well he doesn't quite seem to have the confidence he once had (since pre-HEC quarter final maybe?). He's not making the bone-crunching hits he used to, and definitely seems to be playing to avoid injury, which is understandable. He's been incredibly unlucky and seems to be injured more often than being match fit now.
