Who was the Ulster MOTM against Saints?

Post by Rooster »

Feck this was a hard one as was a real 1 to 15 performance but I am going for Payne as he really was a pain in the Brennan for Saints tonight.

Without Payne we would have sneaked the game, but with him we hammered them.

He was 1 major difference.

Afoa for me. Dismantled Soane Tongathingymajig, and it all started up front. They didnt want to know in the end. Could've equally been any of the front row, feck it, the whole pack..... we do well when we play a tight, 10 man game.... >EW
only joking, some of the backs had a decent game i s'pose....
Icing on the cake will be that horrible fecker Hartley cited.... >minigun >seeya

Can I really only pick one? Darn...

Front row were absolutely phenomenal in the scrum
Tuohy did a lot of great work at the breakdown
Henry was superb at the breakdown
Pienaar oozed class once more
Wallace and Cave were brick walls in defence
Trimble and Bowe both took their tries very well

But...

Payne was world class. His kicking from hand was majestic, his sniping runs were brilliant, his tackling was just as good as everybody else's and his ability under the high ball is something else. What a player, worthy MotM.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Darren, Paddy Wallace, Jared, Tom, Rory and Andy all had massive games. I’m really struggling with this one,     :banghead: :banghead: OK .............Jared it is for sheer class, but could have been nearly anyone in white.

Hard to pick a motm after that performance.

The part I loved was the pre match key matchups that sky selected. They talked about Wood and his outstanding motm performance versus the All Black and talked about him going against a talented youngster in Henderson....did anyone see Wood anywhere?!? I know I saw Hendo smashing rucks and people and he won that battle.

The other key match up was the lions hooker battle between Best and Hartley and Best smashed him in the scrims and caused countless turnovers. Best was fantastic.

Henry and Cave don't get enough credit really doing a lot of unseen work but they are the brains and brawn of the defence.

Just an outstanding performance from the entire squad.
