Putting aside age, fitness and abject lack of skill ...
If the proverbial fairy godmother granted you one solitary cap,

Tam o' Shanter for me

I don't see any option to select England. Shocking. If I have one cap I want it to be in a World Cup final.

You oul West Brit ye. I think you'll find that all of the general detritus of world rugby is encompassed in "Other".Shan wrote:I don't see any option to select England. Shocking. If I have one cap I want it to be in a World Cup final.

This caused a bit of a ponder!
I have gone for Ulster in the hope that the magic fairy dust that got me there, would have brought me to the notice of Ireland and then the Lions
My father in law asked my youngest son, who is eligible to play for Ireland or England, who he would choose to play for if asked and he replied that it would have to be England as he wasn't good enough for Ireland

Oh yes, Ulster of course, looking at who gets Lions caps these days, one must set one's sights higher.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Lions for me!
Going against the spirit of the original question (ie ONE cap only), but following a certain logic, it is incomprehensible nowadays that you could get a Lions cap without ALSO getting capped by Ireland and Ulster!
PS - in the poll, I voted "ULSTER"
(NO ONE could put aside my age, fitness and abject lack of skill to get me an Ireland cap - even a fairy godmother would have her work cut out to get me near an Ulster dressing room, let alone into a squad or team)

Ireland. Without doubt.
Careful, Shan. I thought these were the kinds of comments that would have the rest of Limerick out with their pitchforks and flaming torches!Shan wrote:I don't see any option to select England. Shocking. If I have one cap I want it to be in a World Cup final.

What makes you think the peasants in Limerick can read?Neil F wrote:Ireland. Without doubt.

Ulster. If I was to play for any of them it would be for my beloved province in front of a packed Ravenhill on a dry Friday night.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Should have added that in my youth I would have voted Ireland, fun how wisdom comes with age, my priorities are clearer now.

Since it's confessions time, in my youth, I'd have probably voted for Wales.BaggyTrousers wrote:Should have added that in my youth I would have voted Ireland, fun how wisdom comes with age, my priorities are clearer now.
