Opening of new stadium

Post by LisburnRugby »

Who would you like to see Ulster playing to celebrate the opening of the new stadium (when the time comes) ?

I know the CEO had said the stadium will be ready for a home ERC quarter final this season (13/14) with a capacity of 18k. Now that sounds familiar :duck:

It needs an official opening though. NZ would be the obvious choice. :D I'd go for Australia though, see if we can repeat the 1984 triumph. :D They are tom kite atm so wouldn't be entirely impossible.

Would that count as a match in the McCafferty and Wray Memorial Cup ?

There'd be no relegation so I think they'd hate it. JP should be back by then so he could meet Trimble again!!! ahem, plus a big reunion could be on the cards for all the Flegs in Durban coming over ... the 2nd barrier crew could be threatened by a Fleg invasion!

An invitation 15 either from the Provinces or the Pro12

Like Rumn's idea of a provincial XV. But it'd likely be a team full of youngsters.

Barbarians
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Nice idea, but would such a well-respected historic team made up of international stars be brought together for a match simply to open up a club's new stadium? Unless we manage to win the Heineken Cup or Pro12 and put a "Baa-Baas vs. the Champions" spin on it, I doubt it.
