The book is miles better than the movie. The Lost World is also worth reading.

The Kingkiller chronicle book 2 Patrick Rothfuss. Another where the third book is not yet issued :D waiting for Game of Thrones 6 and 7 and Follett's third in the century series!
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Which movies are better than "the book".
I'd offer The Shining as one example.

Stephen King has some great plot ideas (and some terrible ones, it has to be said) but his writing is dire.

I do like The Shining movie but I thought the book was scarier.

Never really got into The Lost World. I must give it another go. The T-Rex is much better in the book.

People using ereaders much now? See WH Smith selling the Kobo for £29.99 and thought it was good value, might give one a shot.

Would have liked a backlit one though, but they're £100, and only a few quid cheaper than the kindle equivalent.

Anyone used a Kobo?

The recent TV movie of The Shining was much closer to the book but I still prefer Kubrick's version. The remake of Salem's Lot was also truer to the book. The depiction of the vampire was much better IMO although the original TV fillum was much scarier.

Don't have a Kobo,but at £30 it's a steal.

Don't think there's much between all the main players apart from their libraries.

I bought my Nook simple touch for £50 I think...I believe you can get the glowlight version of it for that kind of money now.
Stand up for PICU R.V.H.

Always enjoyed Eco for the historical type of novel.
Someone has recommended CJ Sansom as being
similar and being worth a look-see. Anyone read
"Dissolution" who can let me know if it's worth
the read??

Cheers Browner, will have a look at a nook. For £30 the kobo is good, but could easily spend another £15 on a kandle or equivalent

Mac - Dissolution is an excellent read - not to heavy and very hard to put down - plus once you've finished you can move on to the other 4 in the series - Dark Fire, Sovereign, Revelation and Heartstone - enjoy :thumleft:

The silence of the lambs movie, much better than the book. Antony Hopkins is amazing in it, much evil and more sinister than anything my imagination could conjure up.
