Dawson linked with move to Ulster

Post by Sea_point »

Story from BBC SPORT:

Former Ireland flanker Kieron Dawson could be on his way to Ulster.
The London Irish player is believed to be in talks with Ulster Rugby about a possible switch to the provincial side, who are second in the Celtic League.

The 31-year-old forward, who was born in Bangor, joined the Exiles in 1996 and returned to action at the start of the season after a long-term injury.

Dawson played club rugby for Bangor and was a target for Ulster in 2001 when Alan Solomons was coach.

Dawson was London Irish player of the season in 2000-1 and claimed the try of the season award in 2004-5.

He has scored two tries in his 13 appearances for the Exiles in the current campaign.

Dawson has played for the Barbarians and the Irish 'A', U21 and students teams.

Doesn't make sense at all. He's injury prone and pushing on a bit, so hardly a signing for the future. On the positive side, when's he's fit he's quality, and you won't have to worry about The Poison Dwarf borrowing him for Internationals...

aw yea thats a really good idea

sure we'll get dawson cos theres loads of room for him in the backrow

no really, we've got wilson, best and mcmillian to replace and ferris on the bench

such a smart idea, where does he sign.....

well when Best and Wilson are away with Ireland for weeks on end, and Ferris joining them in the not too distant future, it will seem like a damned good idea

Won't really be a good idea when we let go a player of Hennesy's potential. Ferris and best with Ireland for Training camps, nothing more so we won't miss them for amtches more than likely.

disagree but there you go

young player mentioned in dispatches at the agm (viz Ferris last year) was David Pollock, a flanker. Depends on whether he decides to continue uni studies or go 'pro'

Well have a watch on Wednesday and see how Pollock goes, has moved to the flank now as he is too small for 8. Mature head on him so may opt to stick the studies.
