5 matches, 5 different combinations, 5 disjointed performances, yet probably one of our strongest area in the team on paper? What have we learned?
Feel like the players and team would now benefit from some clarity and consistency going forwards. I think players need to be assigned 1 primary position now and only in emergencies fill in elsewhere.
10 - PJ clearly starter, but iH useful back-up, with Olding in emergencies only.
12 - Olding & McCloskey allowed to battle it out. Olding a 12 all day for me, no more pi$$ing around trying to fit him in 10/15. He will not benefit training in a different position each week. Let him progress to the next level, while mccloskey offers something completely different.
13 - Cave clearly #1, Payne experiment hasnt worked, should never be seen here again. Focus winning back 15. Here's the interesting bit; feel that Marshall should start transitioning here asap. Class player but we do not need 3 really good 12's. He has the skills to do it (may need to learn the defence organisational side mind) and is still very young. Ludik 3rd choice, primarily see him and Payne going hammer and tong for 15.
Summary (brackets emergency only) in order of starting
10 - PJ IH (SO)
12 - SO SM (LM)
13 - DC LM (LL)
15 - LL JP (SO)
