Quite like the look of The Melting Pot at 26 Boulevard de Strasbourg and its not too far a stagger to our accommodation at far end of Rue de Bayard near the Railway station. We may be in Carcassonne for the day on Friday and may even take in a Carcassonne v Stade Montois rugby game, kickoff 7.30pm but I see the bar is open until 2am so should make it back before closing time.

Aye, grand for having boke.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

His bar is grand. It's just the owner I have a problem with.BaggyTrousers wrote:Russ wrote:Heard Trevs bar is ok

Melting Pot was good last time, although iirc they did run out of beer at one point. I can also recommend the Bar Barille beside the prison.

The Melting Pot was some craic from the bits I remember

Surely a bit too PRL-ish as a bar with a name like that?
I heard there was an irish bar in Toulouse where the craic (to your jaw) is mighty

I can"t wait to get stuck into the grub but will certainly be visiting the Melting Pot and the George.

As Rooster says. melting pot was pretty good on the saturday night last time. Bit of karaoke going on as well iirc.
Re: Toulouse AWAY Sunday 20 Dec
Last thing I remember about the Saturday night in the Melting Pot was sharing a bottle of Bombay Sapphire with another member of this parish, not sure how we convinced the barman just to give us the bottle as it would save time running it through the measures but he obliged.Bart S wrote:As Rooster says. melting pot was pretty good on the saturday night last time. The frog and rosbif was grand too.

Is the Melting Pot the Irish(ish) pub about half way between the main square and the station, on the busy road with all the violent beggers? If so, it was a good spot. They a least showed the other Heine games last time I was there post-Castres. Cracking restaurant just across from it.
SRH - if the Aviva Premiership and Dragon is any good I could be persuaded......

Most of my away trip meeting arrangements rarely go to plan but to keep Mr SurreyRedhand happy I'm suggesting Melting Pot Friday night and the George & Dragon Saturday night. Both appear to be open until 2am (doubt I'll stay up that late) so after leisurely evening meal would aim to be reaching the bars approx. 10pm. Ponder and discuss if necessary.

Weather forecast looks favourable at the moment.
17-18 degrees.
Plenty of white shirts - reminding me of the 4 blocks of white at the Montpelier game 2 seasons ago.
