Bishop's Stortford RFC

Post by justinr73 »

Congratulations to Stortford who will collect the National League 2 South trophy today.

They've done it in style, with 28 BPs from 29 games, and have a squad brimming with lads who've been there since they were kids. Four of the 20 on duty today have worked at my firm.

Next season brings games against the likes of Blackheath, Fylde, Moseley and Rosslyn Park in tier 3 of English rugby.

I know of at least two other Ulster fans at the club who'll be trying to avoid news of the game in Swansea this afternoon!

Congrats Justin, from a St Eds explayer.
My son, with Bury now, has played a fair few games at Stortford

Is watching Stortford like watching Ulster?

Stortford don't pay their players and have come out on top against teams with a lot bigger budgets.

It's a great club, as are many in that league. I've been up to Bury Sam. Greene King are my main client.

Over 1500 at the game. I had to limit myself to 7 or 8 pints of IPA cos I was picking MOTM. Made it all the way from noon through to the boxing and then for a curry, albeit I was flagging a little by then.

Shame that we sent Barnes down. They made a bloody game game of it and were a couple of minutes from getting the draw they needed.

I got up, surprisingly full of beans, and headed straight for the Sky+ to see what had gone on in Swansea.

I am now rather less buoyant that I was....

So we've got Geordan Murphy speaking at the club on Saturday.

Anything I should ask him?

Why is he a twunt?
Why could he not be bothered for Ireland?
Why did he move for mercenary money?

Russ's first question is valid, and should be asked, he has appeared particularly kuntish at Spanners a couple of times, then again nobody enjoys getting massacred.

You could ask him one thing, Justin. Preface your question by telling him that Ciaran Fitzgerald has the 3 balls from Ireland's triple crown in 1982, Ginger McLoughlin claims he has the ball from Munster's massacre of the All Blacks, then drop the bomb on him, "Geordan, do you not think you were a bit of a dickhead having had the 2009 Grand Slam ball in your hands then were dumb enough to hoof it into the stand instead of touch it down and pouch a fuc'king artefact?" If you're feeling brave you could add, "ya feckin' gobdaw of a walking omadon".

You could factually tell him he wasn't fit to sniff Girvan Dempsey's ball sack, a proper full back with bottle - of course, that was in the days when I had not yet come to hate all Mexicans equally.

Sure, let us know what he says. >EW
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Ask him about the time Monsieur Poite asked him if he was enjoying the game at Ravenhill

Geordan was a bit on the dull side (certainly compared to Graeme Swann who did the Stortford Cricket Club dinner in April, although, unlike Geordan, he wasn't driving....)

The National League 1 fixtures are out already!

Only about 3 months to wait for the Pro 12 ones....

Would love to have a table of Ulster fans at one of our lunches next season though - just a few miles from Stansted.

What do you reckon Neill? I could even fix up a park run for our hirsute friend!

Finally met Adam Jones today.

There’s a scurrilous rumour going around that we don’t look dissimilar.

I see he wears shorts 365 days a year, was wearing them during Quins Snow game. Richmond is a good rugby Club.
