solidarity wrote: Fri Feb 03, 2023 11:30 am Welsh RU has been under fire in the past week or so. Here's a take that sees a deep seated problem: https://theconversation.com/future-of-w ... llegations
While I fully agree that misogyny is completely wrong and should be tackled vigorously (at least within the new tackle guidelines!), I'm really not sure how to addeess the problem without making the cure worse than the disease.

By the way, the article note only one woman and one person of colour on the WRU board. The IRFU Committee has three women out of 24: one is a 'world rugby' rep and two are provincial reps (Connacht and Munster) and no people of colour. The average age looks to be about 120.
Numbers on committees mean nothing.

Any committee can coopt members of a particular minority to fill quotas, but not rock the boat.

Change will need to grow from the grass roots. All for women getting to play (and govern) rugby, but lets stop pretending there is any sort of comparison with the 1st class game.
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

Another wee gem about money in sport: 'Under Abramovich, Chelsea lost over £900,000-a-week every week for 19 years'.

Latest thing I've seen on rugby in schools. Looks like a 'no-tackle' version might be on the cards, at least in some places.

Nothing new here. They were playing this years ago at Ian Humphreys' school.

You can now watch some live action sport as an animation: https://twitter.com/FOS/status/1635788670778109952?s=20
Just another piece of money making madness. I trust this will never, ever come to rugby.
