Personally I couldn't stand Dave Myers, but a sad day for his nearest and dearest and (fwiw) they have my sympathies.

I didn't like the way he often tried to explain the "Chemistry" or "Science" that was happening as food ingredients were brought together, and/or when they were cooking. Biggest load of twaddle ever. He wouldn't recognise chemistry if he fell over a child's chemistry set with the word CHEMISTRY written on it in massive letters.

Have to say, I once made pea'n'ham soup following his recipe with scientific precision and it was stinkin'. Had to bin it. I even remember the date because it was the day of George Best's funeral.

Anyone read / watched Lessons in Chemistry? Great connection between chemistry and cooking. One of the few instances of the book and the film / tv series being different but both pretty good.
