Statistically, Paris-Dakar would have a death each year.

There are some mistakes that an organization should never ever make. I can understand in the chaos of battle or a major natural disaster, mistakes can happen but in a sporting event? This is dreadful.

How's about using the Tricolour as the flag of NI during the Queen's jubilee?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

We can only speculate (and probably shouldn't), but both men must have been in some state.
But Saturday evening until Wednesday - Jesus.
I'm imagining worried family showing up at Liverpool ICU and eventually seeing someone who isn't their loved one. Actually I'm not imagining it, because it is unimaginable.

Billy Bingham was in charge of NI's finest footballing hours in the early eighties. As worthy of the term 'iconoc' as anyone in local sport. The win over Spain is one of those moments that you tell your grandchildren about (and, of course, they haven't a clue what you're on about).

Ken Kennedy was a tough man in the best sense of the word. I attended every home match he played for Ireland as a kid. I think he held the record for number of caps for a hooker.
He was on the all conquering Lions tour to NZ in 1971 and he was also the team doctor! Truly they were the amateur days.

I see Ryan Jones is the latest high profile former player to have been diagnosed with early onset dementia aged just 41. This definitely seems to be becoming a pandemic of the modern professional game. With a few notable exceptions, this was nowhere near as prevalent back in the day.
