November test matches

Re: November test matches
The only thing I would complain about was the beyond the ball game of New Zealand and charging into and over in rucks and mauls . it's the way they play and on occasion verges on dangerous .

Now the “Big “ game is over I expect a few players to rested next week - PoM and Stander - Byrne - Best . I would expect yesterday’s bench props to start .
In the backs Cooney could start with either Joey or Byrne - and new centres and wings .
It would ensure some would be rested and enable Joe to assess the depth in the squad because the last 2 games ha ve been very physical games and I am sure some are carrying knocks .
Of course the USA could be the perfect opposition to allow Wee Carberry shine like best thing since Veda

Re: November test matches
One last point from me...
I thought it was pretty brave of Joe to use the bench the way he did. Took some big names off and had to bring on guys that were maybe 3rd choice in some instances. Says a lot about the coach and also the players in the squad. Most sides crumble in the last 20 mins V NZ but Ireland managed to hang on.
Actually another point. the game reminded me how important defense is. The Lions were epic and so was Ireland. If you can match the set-piece and dominate collisions, it's pretty hard to break sides down. For Ireland, it took a wonderful moment from Stockdale.

Climb up onto the top of your house and start screaming: 'stand up for the Ulstermen, stand.......'

Sweetman good speed but green as grass when he doesn't have the ball .
Like Earls and Zebo needs the speed to rescue him from his defensive errors and the fact you run faster without the ball.

Re: November test matches
I don't normally speak for turnips but Sweetnam was superb in his about the field work for Munster in a recent European game.
It was highlighted how he had contributed around the pitch and how his intelligence showed up in the scoring of the lead try for Munster.
I think he is exactly the kind of thinking player Joe would like to have.
Sweetnam has an interesting background in hockey and hurling as well as rugby, having gone to Bandon Grammar School, which would traditionally not feature down there in rugby terms. A man of many talents.

November test matches
As I state he is dangerous ball in hand because he does have genuine pace but defensively he seems green .
His defending may have improved but against the USA it might not be tested greatly.
But the back three combination is one which might revel if Addison can organise the defence from the back .
It's a game that could suit Sweetman
Since the USA is not D1 opposition Joe may be able to assess the depth of the squad available .

Don't waste your effort on the ramblings of a lunatic. He wont change his mind, he simply wishes to steal your time.

Re: November test matches
Anyway Ireland Maybes ( with a couple of Willbes ) beat the USA
My guess the Cup party will be Forwards---- 6 props 2 Hookers 4 second rows 5 back row------------------------- 17
Backs ----- 2 scrum half , 2 out half, 4 centres 5 back three 1 Utility Back ---14
or ------- as above 4 back three 2 Utility backs---14
NB Beirne and Henderson can also cover the back row (if necessary )
Who goes depends on the injuries between now and then but I consider within the last 4 games he has viewed most contenders
