Toss up between Byrne and Burns? The collapse of Irish Outhalf stock since PJ was shafted is pure karma.

Jackie The Murray /Sexton combo is done -- Murray hasn't been the same player since he did his neck and Sexton is a badly compromised by being injury prone.

Carberry is not an International Out Half -- when asked to play to script he goes robotic and his kicking is fragile ie the length of kick is not assured and he attracts attention from loose forwards and gets injured ( international loose forwards tend to be bigger than him and as fast as him ). Carberry is a player who shines at lower game levels because his natural game is impulsive and the quality of the opposition is insufficient to mark him for 80 minutes.

Carty has a good kicking game and ability to find space but lacks the passing speed to used the backs outside him.

Wouldn't consider Burns to be better than Carberry and Ross has yet to impress -- steady and fine behind a dominant Leinster pack actually think the brother might be a better prospect long term.

Only one hooker or am I blind?!
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Captain Janny :banghead:

Delighted for TOT but sad for Marty.

Farrell is obviously in on the McCloskey grudge.

Missed Herring but that's still only two hookers.

Three hookers -- Herring, Kelleher, and Heffernan 9 caps between them about 50 minutes of international rugby

Not to sure of the centre combinations Farrell -- big either Henshaw is something similar defensively I consider Ringrose an iffy inclusion and the only one who currently inspires ball in hand is Ringrose they all went went to the World Cup and flopped -- I don't think a wing got a pass or opportunity the whole tournament .

So it could be the same old sh-t .

leinster have Davey as the wing in form -- pro14 overlaps galore and walk ins behind a dominant pack but I doubt if he is any faster now than 2 years ago.

World Cup XV with Kelleher for Best - Herring on the bench,

back row Josh Van der Flier, Deegan and POM --JC bench

Second row Henderson and Ryan -- Toner bench

Tis a bit strange giving the captaincy to a guy who will most likely be injured through much of the 6N.

Probably though at this stage the only alternative was POM and his form means he needs a reputation selection to even get in the 23 man matchday squad.

James Ryan is a possible future captain but it doesn't make sense loading that on him now.

Seems a bit strange not to select Scannell. Maybe Farrell doesn't think much of him. He's certainly no world beater.

Great he has not selected Kleyn or the hopeless Haley. That is positive.

I did think he'd include Nordi and maybe McCloskey. I'm not McCloskey's greatest fan but he is in good form. I'd select him ahead of Aki.

I don't think Murray would get in the Leinster or Ulster starting 15 on all his form since his injury. Whether he gets in for Ireland could depend on whether Farrell wants to play a game with almost no backline attacking and where we aimlessly kick the ball to the opposition all day like last year's 6n or a more exciting game with the potential for tries.
It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.

Janny will be captaining regardless of who had the armband.

Deegan and Doris along with VDF would be a brave but correct selection.

The two potential Captains are Henderson and Ryan ( always liked Captains who look down on referees ) but both have still to learn the manner in which to carry out those duties . I would suggest the IRFU invest in an air ticket for Johan Mullar -- (if their willing to invest money in sexual lessons for 20+ men ) what's the cost of an air ticket from South Africa to advise potential Captains it makes more sense.

Looking at that selection Sexton is the wrong man, too strong a character , too strongly associated with Leinster Rugby for a team which will consist of about 70% leinster players and 30% from 3 other Provinces.

The only alternative in the group is actually Herring -- understudy to Best and has less Provincial baggage than most of the team-- POM has a lot of personal drive - great motivation -- but if International players need to be motivated -- they shouldn't be picked in the first place -- Players shouldn't need motivation -- but renewed group focus and concentration on the tasks allotted: a different thing altogether - group think ins - rather than a Dictator.
