Surely it's a wee bit early to be getting a semi on. It's getting harder and harder to fall at the quarter final stage but I wouldn't back against it.

It's definitely double entendre time >EW

Ireland v Italy on Saturday is on TV8.it for exiles like myself.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Great to see DV put in a captain's performance versus Argentina...who knew he had it in him given his last season with us...?

JS on the wing, Hendy as skipper and TS to debut from the bench amongst the Ulster interest in the Italy game.

It has the look of a possibles XV rather than a probables .

Thus a good performance is a plane ticket to sit on the bench

Capt of the side is a kiss of death because basically it is an ad hoc XV which may fail to gel and lacks out and out forward ball Carriers.

With Henshaw at 13 the wings might be somewhat starved of meaningful passes with space to beat their opposite number.

Similarly it is not a game to expose set plays

Agree with all of this, Rum.

At least it gives some of our guys a chance to get on the plane.

It has the look of the Forlorn Hope- soft soap option versus Italians- no win. Hendo needs game time before his next injury. McCloskey starting is pointless- they're already taking Akeeee regardless if Mac is a more skilful, intelligent, staying on the field option. This is a dead rubber for all but Hendo, Herring and TOT. Crumbs before the cut. Keeping stay at homes fit. There's probably only 1 back 3 place still up for grabs. EOS 2007 anyone? Stewart's time will come. In all fairness this is not on URC form, or Loughman would be there. Coombes too Meh.

Side has the look of one picked for farrell to say to guys 'you had your chance and blew it'. Up to those selected to prove him wrong although expect even a very good performance will still not be enough for most.
