At 32, if he stays injury free, he could be a really great investment. Could become a Ravers hero.

It may be more about getting his mojo back, as well as his fitness, given events over the last 18 months.

He’s got as much credit in the bank as anyone, of course.

His twenty minutes against Edinburgh the other week are worth watching though, not that I am suggesting he should be judged on that (for the avoidance of any doubt). On the positive side, he made a couple of excellent contributions in the line-out.

This signing is definitely a gamble, albeit one well worth taking.

Very different player to Marcell. Exciting when on top of his game. Hopefully he can teach the entire squad his offloading skills inside the year.

Looking at the Glasgow site there is a mix of meh and disgruntlement about him leaving. If Dan can get him in the right shape physically and mentally he will be a great asset. A one year deal to either secure a second or a final big contract abroad should mean he puts the effort in.

Sometimes it takes the right person to motivate a player or person to get the best out of them. A case of different strokes for different folks . It looks as If the Ulster Management are trying to hold McCann back a little and not play him too soon which might expose him to injury early in his career. Too many Ulster Back rows have foundered in injury at an early age.

Perfect example being Nick Williams reinvention at Ulster.

Does appear to be a little safe guarding Re. McCann. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially since he’s added significant bulk by looks of it. 22/23 seems to be the age recently for backrows to make an impression, so he’s a head of schedule. Just need Allison to workout now, even just at squad level.

Basically the same thing wording and emphasis might differ. KOTH identifies inexperience which may exist. And Rea in his first season got exposed due inexperience in a couple of games and likewise Henderson when playing in the back row . While most think of the back row in terms of attack and ball carrying -- the fact remains the back row are the KEY players and unit in a teams defence.

I believe Leone has a bit of record of being a little casual about turning up. But if Dan knows him and has good working relationship, great, he'll be an exciting addition.

Coming in and out will do him no harm for a few months. He’s such an exciting talent.

Disagree, King. Leinster aren’t afraid to throw their young lads in and they thrive. It baffles me that our young backs can get a spot so easily (in relative terms), but we are so bad at integrating younger forwards, who are obviously very talented
