Round 4: Weekend of May 29

Round 6: Weekend of June 12

Final: Weekend of June 19

Rounds 4 to 6 will see the four South African ‘Super’ franchises play their away games in Europe and those fixtures will be confirmed once all appropriate travel approvals have been confirmed by the relevant authorities and governments. This format means that no teams from Europe will travel to South Africa for Guinness Rainbow Cup games. A total of six rounds (eight games per round) will take place with all teams ranked in a single league table. The top two teams will then play each other in the Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup Final on June 19.

If there are only 6 rounds and 3 of those are interpros then does that mean we will only play a single SA side?? assume they are waiting to see what countries allow SA teams to enter.

Yes so in theory the 4 South African sides come North and will each play 3 NH sides. With 12 NH sides, then Ulster will play a South African side + 2 non Irish NH sides in Rounds 4 - 6.

Bit of a farce really.

The integrity of the Pro 14 (such as it was) was sold down the river for a few quid.

Put the kids out against everyone except the south africans.

Hard to imagine that tgey could take such a ridiculous league structure and make it worse.

They are officially planning to continue with this competition despite not knowing if certain sides will be able to play?

I do.........not care about this load of guff either.

Play some young'uns to give them some game time.

The way the draw works you could see teams such as edunburgh or scarlets/ospreys winning this.

Ruining the season for this. Utter joke. I hope the South Africans aren’t allowed to travel and it all falls to pieces. Utter balls.

Exactly. All this to get the SA teams over for 3 matches each. For that number of games they could have just stayed in SA and played each other again.

No doubt there was a grander plan and then when that got diminished it was too late to reconstruct some of the pro14 season.

The novelty of attending live sport again and reduced capacities may make this look like people are interested but I doubt that is the reality.

I suppose it is an opportunity for Addison to play...and get injured again for next season.
