So another backrow forward signs for an English club, this time at Quins. So there are players out there to sign.

Meanwhile at Ulster...

I'd rather give our own youth a chance than a 24 year old Tongan with two Super Rugby caps, if there was real quality out there then yes I'd be annoyed.

Does it have to be, either...or? Can we not both develop our own lads and bring in a mercenary or two?

I dont see the value of bringing in an NIQ back row who is not notably better than the kids you're trying to develop, and to top it of pay that NIQ more.

Mick Kearney has joined on a short term deal

https://www.ulsterrugby.com/2021/08/uls ... -contract/

Cover for Izzy I imagine? Unless there have been injuries in pre-season which we don't know about yet.

He is 1.98m apparently.

Is that how we define a big signing at ulster these days?

Obviously done a good job at Limerick. Welcome to Ulster and keep up the good work. Only six locks was always a bit light. When is Izzy due back?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Hendy heading back to the back row? I wouldn't have thought so, but who knows?

Whats the chances izzy could be developed into a Courtney Lawes style 6? He has the handling skills and pace to be more than a workhorse second row and is a late enough developer to not be pigeon hold yet.
