It's pretty clear that our pack ( and fly half ) are substandard, especially when a few first choice picks aren't available.
To be honest this has been the case for years
Unfortunately I rather suspect that, in a post covid world, we simply don't have any cash left having already signed Big Duane.
Nor would we be likely to get permission from Dublin.

I'd like to see our current young props getting a real run at turning their potential into reality. Ross Kane is, at best, third on the tighthead depth chart. What do people expect from him? He's a sound enough squad player who can do a job, but will get found out at times.
Same as with 19 year old halfbacks, expectations need to be realistic for a no.3 no. 3.
We are playing our young props though , unfortunately we've only got three - O'Sullivan, O'Toole and Reid.
The prop cupboard is kinda bare at present.

Re Kane, pretty sure he wouldn't be a no.3 no.3 at the likes of Leinster or Saracens.
And there's the distinct chance he could be our no.1 no.3 if Marty stays injured and O'Toole is away with Ireland
God only knows who our no.2 no.3 would be then, Millathingamewhatsit?
Maybe our expectations need to be more realistic about any chances of silverware ?

Such lamentation! The sooner the 27th comes around and we beat Leinster the better. Then they'll all be joining the brilliantine brigade.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Silverware in a pipe dream, unless it's the challenge cup.

There was a Rainbow Cup up for grabs last year
Yes, it was utterly worthless, but still better than the square root of feck all.

even bloody Benetton can give their fans something

Ulster won’t beat Leinster with Burns at 10.

Bic biro was the real chance last season and was Ulster’s to lose probably, and in typical fashion they did just that.
