It was the synthetic pitch that sold the switch to Sarries to him.

Loves the coarse ground.

Heard that Milo doesn't always turn up to training in the best of shape as he's a bit too fond of the cocktails.

Is big G finally starting to show rhe promise that Dan saw in him? I've been pleasantly surprised in how well he's done the last couple of games against strong scrummaging teams. Got through an hour on sat night on a fast pitch and made some decent carries.

Now let’s not get carried away.

Scrum has been good against top end scrummaging teams ( I applaud him for that) but his ball carrying is beyond terrible. Literally no leg drive or separation on the ground. Gets turned over probably 1 in 3 carries because he literally doesn’t fight when on his feet or when he hits the ground.

I'd agree. Jury still out as to whether he could possibly be an acceptable 3td choice.
Already ahead of Schalk Hond Van der Merwe though in terms of contribution made.

In fairness, I doubt he was signed to be anything better than 3rd choice.

I feared without Marty the scrum would be milked by Embra for penalties, then kicks to the corner or attempts at goal. But the scrum held up well after the first one. So full marks to him for delivering on that important core role. Warwick and Herring scrummaged well too. The Embra front row is a serious unit.

He's coming from a very low base I admit. No reason why his skills set and rugby nous and can't be improve upon. Not many 20 stone tight heads around and what more do we expect from a 3rd choice other than holding up a scrum and doing the basics.
