Positives:
Luke’s return.
A new fire lit under Tredders (one daft kick aside).
Team regrouped after shipping two tries.
Front row handled Springbok front row in scrum. Reid and Stewart looked useful again.
Jones went off early.
Cooney gets useful minutes.
Team managed heat quite well. Weren’t blowing out their hoops.
Negatives:
Inaccuracy in attack.
Slow to rucks.
Lack of penetration.
Poor decisions at lineouts meant mauls were driven to touchline and negated.
Weak as water ref.
Cheating b@stard TMO.

Rotten as this is a big potential bananna skin for Leinster. Referee got both decisions right for me.

What do refs think 'not held in tackle' means?

By saying "refs" you imply that they all understand the same meaning.
The West is alive..... should have been a try and a yellow card, three penalties in same phase of play on their own line by Leinster.

Busby there. But they've all been very generous to the ball carrier in recent years. Tackler gets pinged for not releasing if he doesn't release instantly, only for the BC to get up and run off.
There were at least 4 penalty advantages leading to that Connacht tryThe West is alive..... should have been a try and a yellow card, three penalties in same phase of play on their own line by Leinster.

The laws state that it isn’t a knock on and play continues if a player rips or knocks the ball from an opponent and the ball goes forward from the opponent’s hand or arm.skiboo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 5:29 pm For me the ref bottled the decision at the end and the south africian TMO was determined not to change his original decision.
At the least it shold have been an Ulster put in or a penalty for a knock on in the tackle however the Ulster player was not tackled but the ball knocked on should it have been a penalty try.
Laws have changesd a lot over the years is the following still applicable.
"Knocking with intention - if a player deliberately knocks or throws the ball forward, a penalty is awarded to the opposite team. If the referee feels a try could have taken place if the ball had not been intentionally knocked, a penalty try is awarded."

It seems the act of scoring a try negates the cynical fouling in tese situations. Why?
Is that another ref issue?

Gilroy is done. He’s been a good servant but it’s time to invest in the likes of Sexton before it’s too late. Why is Balacoune not on this trip we’re going to need him v Toulouse?

So then it was play on and Reid touched the ball down. TMO deliberately avoiding the truthful outcome by talking the inexperienced and weak ref around in circles. At a minimum a play on, a knock on in the tackle and an Ulster scrum, OR a deliberate knock on and a penalty try. Not exactly complicated.
I thought when O Connor persuaded the ref to have a sixth look we were in with a shout.......But the TMO was more than ready for him!
TMO should be cited and banned

I think most, if not all of us, know that, but that's not what happened here. The ball went backwards from the opponent's arms, ie backwards from Reidy, forwards off the hand of the player (allegedly) trying to rip or dislodge the ball from Riedy's arms.justinr73 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 9:45 pmThe laws state that it isn’t a knock on and play continues if a player rips or knocks the ball from an opponent and the ball goes forward from the opponent’s hand or arm.skiboo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 5:29 pm For me the ref bottled the decision at the end and the south africian TMO was determined not to change his original decision.

That is at least a knock on by the defender, - play advantage, Reidy scores,
OR
penalise the defender for deliberate knock-on - play advantage Reidy scores
OR
penalise the defender for deliberate knock-on - stop play immediately, penalise defender - award penalty try for Ulster.
It's not dificult.
No way to arrive at the scrum for Stormers except by saying it was a knock-on by Reidy, but a blind man on a galloping horse, in a dark night could see that didn't happen. Indeed ref seemed to see that didn't happen as he initially awarded the try, but allowed himself to be persuaded otherwise by homer TMO.
I'm not arguing -
I'm just explaining why I'm right

The referee forgot the first rule of questioning a TMO
Keep it simple Stupid better known as KISS to the masses
When touch by white was the ball touching the ground ( yes or no )--- Yes
Was white the first to touch the ball after being dropped ( yes or No )--- Yes
When dropped by white did the ball go forward -- ( yes or No ) -- no
The question is not did White drop the ball -- the question is did the ball go forward and only forward before being touched
The referee got into Who knock the ball discussion --- totally totally unnecessary --ONLY if the answer to the last question is yes does Why and Who becomes important .
The rule is ask questions which provide unambiguous answers yes or no
Was the player in touch --Yes or No Was the pass forward Yes or No Was the player held by the neck or hit in the neck or head --Yes or No Penalty start RED and work down
Was the Tackler hit on the head by anything other than the ball carriers hand ( yes or No )- start RED and work down
Simple simple simple otherwise your going to look and be judged --stupid
