Duane Vermeulen

Post by kUD »

I see that Duane has recovered from his knee surgery over the summer and had been named in the Boks squad to take on the All Blacks in the rugby championship in a fortnight.

I hope he doesn't play the full championship for them, as then he won't be back for us until potentially December.

He couldn't get a wee dose of covin in the next couple of weeks could he? Just a wee dose, minimal symptoms and recovery in time for the new season.

Last game in series 24 sept, even if DV played it all. Why would we not have him until December?!
We need him!

No doubt the OP is factoring in the AIs.

I think Duane likes to play but tends to be spared many of the hard yards during the week, so we’ll hopefully see him before too long.

Makes sense to me.

I was reading a few comments on other social media platforms that some cannot understand this, advising MC is by far the superior player and DV8 is a spent force.

DV8 is a sum of the parts player, he brought a lot of stability to our pack last season when things got tight. Sure Coetzee was a great ball carrier but his all round game isn't close to DV8 who despite coming into his winter years of his career does everything across the board to a very high standard.

I’m on board with that.

MC was largely anonymous against Wales.

Agree.

I don't honestly remember him coming close to a man of the match against the likes of a Leinster in a knock out game for Ulster which he should have been.

I do remember him getting carded for a high shot down in the RDS when he was otherwise anonymous.

Great for knocking over Zebre, Dragons etc

Yep I was thinking that he didn't arrive with us until the second Heineken cup game last year, but that was after the autumn internationals, not the rugby championship.

He might not play every game and certainly not a full 80.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?
