English Premiership 2022/23

Post by justinr73 »

Wasps going into Administration and Worcester facing suspension.

I guess losing a few kids on a surprise tour must appear minor in comparison……

Provinces won't be immune to this. I would imagine rising costs for all clubs plus diminishing gates equals some hard decisions coming.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

When it was just one club a la Worcester folding it was the clubs problem, now that there are two it starts becoming an RFU problem, if there were a couple more then it's a very slippery slope for the English Premiership.

Interesting comment taken from BBC
Wasps Holdings Limited, which includes the Premiership club and Arena Coventry Limited, said the move "does not mean the business is in administration".
Is this merely sabre rattling before they do have to go into administration?

Four in to Leinster and Munster and twenty out wasn’t it?

We seemed to do OK.

Not sure that makes sense.

No sniff of this from Goodey or Big Jim this week.

They were supposed to be restructuring so it buys them a bit of time from the HMRC.

The English being English went big time -- too many clubs -- too few players of quality and the small pot couldn't feed them all

English clubs owe over £500 million. £35m owed to the tax man. The tax man usually pulls the p,ug.

Nice to see Wuss get a result with all that's going on off the park, already the league is throwing up some intrigue, some close results, apparently Saracens were lucky to win today.

I recall the last CEO lamenting Wasps and how we want to follow their model :banghead:

Surprised to read that the PRL don’t see copies of their clubs accounts according to the Times and I suspect the RFU don’t either.
I know that all clubs in Ireland have to submit audited acoounts to the IRFU! Or they will get no finances.
But of course if this is true it is just another example of poor admin. We should know within the hour how effective the administration is of English Rugby.
The rumours at the weekend of Welsh clubs crossing the border would mean swapping one poor admin for another

Malins is stepping into CP’s contractual shoes at Bristol for next season.

Seems pretty early for such a move to be in the public domain and a big loss for Saracens.

Worcester now officially in administration and the players' contracts are null and void.

Wasps have pulled out of this weekend’s game and are now set to enter Administration.
