His attack is improving. His defence certainly isn’t.

I've never seen a player as invisible as Moxham in an Ulster shirt. How many caps has he now? There's hope for us all.

On the first try Stockdale bought a dummy going for an intercept -- as there were two covering players one Lowry sliped off the tackle to enable the try to be scored .

It was a case of too many would be tacklers getting in the way of each other.

Moxham looks like a player out of position --- a physical lump of a centre on the wing getting man and ball or very little ball to play with and no space to run in.

Why because Billy Burns lacks the pass to enable the ball to get to the wing quickly ie the centres run diagonal towards the wing bring the cover defence across and leaving the wing little space to run in .

the back three perform and run better running the ball back than when the ball is being fed out .
Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I thought we played very well (albeit Cardiff were dire)!

Front row was excellent, JTA really needs signed up for next year. The back row as well was very very strong, enabled quick ball on attack, carried strongly, pinched a few at the lineout and we actually had a turnover threat which has been missing the last few games. Thought Marcus Rea had a stormer. A combination of McCann, Marcus, Timoney, Vermeulen and Sheridan should the back row for the big games, no more messing around with a different back row every week.

Backs had it on a plate but did well, Doak and burns managed the game well, Moore was creative, Hume is slowly looking more like himself and the back 3 were solid, though defensively definitely some concerns. Although Stockdale missed a couple of tackles he took his try very well and thought he was excellent under the high ball. Hopefully that’s an important step to restoring some confidence in himself. Postlethwaite looks exciting, 2 cracking offloads in quick succession.

Overall a very good win as I thought that had the potential to be a bit of a banana skin game for us!

Ulster played well. It was a good open game.

The mingling on the pitch after the match was no doubt music to the ears of the powers that be if they allow it!

Typically mixed reception from the locals.

Met a couple of really nice lads after the game but it’s not my favourite trip.

Paying over the odds for a beer and a decent burger at BrewDog for lunch is money well spent.

Any news on the poorly Ulster fan?

Hit his head and then had a heart attack/cardiac arrest from what we heard.

Hope all OK.

JTA and Moore were loving the selfies afterwards and why not?

Cracking fan interaction after a very good performance.

Doak, the back row, JTA, Moore and even Burns had great games.

Still not convinced by Hume, couple of brainfart penalties and missed tackles in the first half. He doesn't start for me in a KO game, Stu and one Marshall/Moore please.

Nice try by Stockdale and in general he looked good with the ball, but as alluded to above still needs to sort out his defence.

But lads, we actually closed out a game relatively comfortably! Not the usual cliffhanger. So kudos to the team for not shitting the bed.

Cardiff are poor though but we'll take it. Much bigger challenges ahead ie away in SA likely plus Ladybois so we'll see if DMcF has sorted the obvious tactical issues or will we still come up short when it really matters? Pack looks much better especially with Toomooga Allen and Ireland contingent to return. But apart from the likes of Stu, Luke and Moore, our backline threat and defensive set still looks suspect, and will be exposed by better teams as it has through the season so far. Too many backs also out of form across the season. Stockdale, Hume, Rob B and Mike are shadows atm. We really need Addison back tbf- he would be a literal game changer.

Considering Bobby B is injured harsh calling him a shadow.
Agree on Addison, difference between getting to a final or plucky playoff defeat

Great player that he was and all, I don't get why people are referencing Addison. The lad has played 26 games in 5 seasons for us and probably hasn't put together 5 games in a row in that period.

Harsh on the lad but if we are relying on him coming back and changing our attack, we are well and truely fecked.

Bobbie B is our game changer if we can get and keep him fit for the remainder of the season. I'm starting to worry he is such a pedigree racehorse (with very little padding) he will always be at the mercy of muscular strains and twinges.
