Ulster v bulls Sat 25th 7.35pm

Post by jean valjean »

Now we are back to real rugby we have a big game this weekend. Addison (lower leg), Marty Moore (knee) and Iain Henderson (arm) our only missing players so hopefully we have a good deck to pick from. The bulls will be coming loaded so not anyway guaranteed, but we need to be pushing for a BP win if possible, with hopefully leinster doing us a favour against the stormers also.

First time in a long time Addison included in the Injury update

You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

Good. If we place any value in ourselves we focus on what we have to do, and that's a BP agin the Bulls. The rest is out of our hands anyway. If there's one team who wont fear Stormers, it's Leireland. Leinster have skin in the game too- home all the way to the final and an unbeaten season.
Franky it's Ladybois then the other 3-5 closely pooled behind- perm any one of the 5 with home advantage and injury availability key.
Also gives this league long awaited credibility

Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby, Jake White, has announced a strong 28-men touring squad that will travel to the United Kingdom and France for back-to-back fixtures in the 2022/23 Vodacom United Rugby Championship and the 2022/23 Heineken Champions Cup.

The Vodacom will first take on Ulster Rugby in round 16 of the 2022/23 Vodacom United Rugby Championship at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast. Kick-off for that clash is set for 21h35pm South African Standard Time.

The following week, the South African outfit will travel to France to take on Stade Toulousain in round 16 of the 2022/23 Heineken Champions Cup. The knock-out clash at Le Stadium in Toulouse is set to kick off at 16h00pm South African Standard Time.

Speaking on the composition of the travelling party, White remarked: “We are playing in multiple competitions and so it becomes important for us to balance our sides. Both the team travelling and the one remaining to focus on the Currie Cup campaign – we believe – has the best possible chance at getting the results we want,”

“We have also left behind some experienced players like Lizo Gqoboka, Jacques du Plessis, Mihlali Mosi and Sbu Nkosi, who need more game time but also have the wisdom to flank the youngsters when they travel to Bloemfontein. This is important because we want to do well in that competition as much as it is our ambition to do well in Europe.”

VODACOM BULLS TOURING SQUAD:

Forwards: 1. Bismarck Du Plessis, 2. Cyle Brink, 3. Dylan Smith, 4. Elrigh Louw, 5. Francois Klopper, 6. Gerard Steenekamp, 7. Janko Swanepoel, 8. Johann Grobbelaar, 9. Marco van Staden, 10. Merwe Olivier, 11. Mornay Smith, 12. Ruan Nortje, 13. Ruan Vermaak, 14. Simphiwe Matanzima, 15. Tiaan Lange, 16. WJ Steenkamp

Backs: 1. Canan Moodie, 2. Chris Smith, 3. Cornal Hendricks, 4. David Kriel, 5. Embrose Papier, 6. Harold Vorster, 7. Kurt-Lee Arendse, 8. Morne Steyn, 9. Niel Le Roux, 10. Sibongile Novuka, 11. Stedman Gans, 12. Zak Burger

He needs at least a half as needs to start against leinster with Stickdale on the other wing. Ulster has to be brave and these guys on their day are capable of causing problems which the likes of mcilroy and moxham simply can't.

I'm hopeful Rob has been good to go for a few weeks and it isn't a major risk starting him. If he can get through 65 mins that will be good. Need to throw everything at these next 2 weeks.

For Leinster I'd go with the following backline : Cooney, Burns, Baloucoune, Stu, Hume, Stockdale, Lowry . Possible 6/2 bench split with Doak and Stuart Moore . Could be an argument for starting Luke Marshall ahead of Hume for his defensive qualities but I'd go with Hume.

I heard or read Leinster only need 3 points from the remaining fixtures.

Yup best Stormers can get to is 74 and Leinster currently on 71, if both finished on 74, Leinster would be top on matches won which is the first tiebreaker.

Leinster will want to beat the stormers as it allows them the luxury of not sending any front liners to SA. I feel a bit sorry for our SA brethren as they have never had the 'pleasure' of seeing a fully loaded leinster team down there. I'd imagine munster will do however, and I am hopeful they will surprise the stormers giving us a shot at 2nd. The extra home SF game will more than make up for the hole in the coffers from the LR game.

What do you fellas think of Coombes the Munster lad, is he the Hero that walks among us as Munster's say.
Hoping for the best but he was very poor in the first Maori game and then against NZ A team.
