Nothing wrong with forwards scoring most of a team's tries, right?!

The beauty of the try is inversely proportional to the number on the back.

The same was said last season tbf.

Remember how woeful we were over November to 6N period last season, and he didn't achieve either of the above, and made a complete hash of the home league QF.

I don't see him going anywhere, anytime soon.
Can't afford to let him go though SII and Al, unless theres significant impact on the UR" business model"

Half Time: Leinster 14 - 19 Ulster

Unbelievable considering we've spent 32 minutes under the cosh and have had 3 visits to their Red Zone.

Are we brill or clinical?!

Great stuff from Billy.

Suspect we’re going to have to be equally clinical in the second half.

justinr73 wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 12:43 pm As in any sport, most age grade players aren’t good enough to make it.

McFarland’s hands are tied behind his back by having to work with a squad which is significantly made up of players who are only there because they are IQ, even though there is zero chance of them ever playing for Ireland.

I’d change that.
It's the IRFU model.. there can't be 200 Irish squad members and presumably Iqs are cheaper, plus don't "block pathways". I can't see Dave changing that. However, the more raw talent you have, and dependent on how well you develop it, you become more and more "lucky" as others would see it. Regardless whether some of these guys would've made an Irish squad, there should've been enough for squad depth rather than mediocre"filler" imported from other provinces or countries. Schalk over Warwick for example?

DF faces the same issues as Munster and Connacht. Despite having a significant population advantage, we underperform in forward talent development, especially in relation to Munster, taking the scraps from mainly Leinster. Leinster have earned the right by significant resource allocation and management allied with investing in a great coaching team. Ours in comparison, is risible.

Have we taken the learnings then?
The benches will tell the tale, unless we flog some for the 80. I'd have Ewers on ASAP.

I wish Refell was a stone heavier. Our forwards coach is doing what exactly? Lineouts are shocking for a Pro team with aspirations and an all international front 5.
