The run in
League is very tight from 6-11 with only 3 points between 6 teams.
Remaining fixtures:
Benetton 37 pts - Dragons H, ulster A, sharks A, bulls A, Edinburgh H.
Ospreys 35 pts - stormers A, bulls A, leinster A, Dragons H, Cardiff A.
Ulster - 35 pts - Cardiff H, benetton H, Scarlets A, leinster H, munster A.
Edinburgh 34 pts - scarlets H, Cardiff A, Zebre H, Munster H, benetton A.
Connacht 34 pts - zebra H, Dragons A, munster A, Stormers H, Leinster A.
Lions 34 pts - leinster H, munster H, Cardiff H, Glasgow H, Stormers A.
Some big games ahead, benetton and ospreys make struggle to get more than 1 win, connacht 2 wins, we should get 3, edinburgh should get 3 possibly 4. The lions are the dark horses and could win 4 on the bounce at home depending on what leinster and munster send to SA. We will likely need something from the leinster and munster games.

Re: The run in
I would prefer Munster at home and Leinster away when looking for possible points But what you face when playing either province depends on what they may face before or after their Ulster match.
A win against Bennett is essential they being only team in the 6 which Ulster face the results and how other teams fare is not really in Ulsters control.

Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist
Re: The run in
Still depressing to see our name in amongst these 6 average teams but patience required. If it wasn't for the potential cash game income who really gives a stuff whether we are 8th or 11th in a league in which only 2-4 teams show any real interest in winnng.jean valjean wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 4:25 pm League is very tight from 6-11 with only 3 points between 6 teams.

Re: The run in
Unfortunately, it's our current level. Would we prefer to have beaten Edinburgh and ospreys but still have Dan and JP about the place? Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward.Bobbievee wrote:Still depressing to see our name in amongst these 6 average teams but patience required. Re: The run in
Some win for the Turnips there.
Leinster getting stuffed hasn't helped our cause.
Likely 5 pointers for Embra and Connacht tonight.
Probably in our interest that Ospreys get beaten by the Stormers to knock their hopes of a playoff out.
If all of the above happen it would leave the following:
6th - Bennetton 42pts
7th - 10th - some combination of Ulster, Lions, Connacht and Embra 39pts
11th - Ospreys 35pts
Squeaky bum time. Massive game next week.

Re: The run in
Ospreys leading Stormers 7 17 at halftime.
Re: The run in
We’re definitely more consistent under Murphy, but I don’t think consistently tom kite was what the powers that be were looking for.jean valjean wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 10:43 pmUnfortunately, it's our current level. Re: The run in
Ospreys on course for a BP win.
No way we’re getting into the top 8 now. Sharks have a great chance of winning the challenge cup which means in theory we’d need to be top 7.

Re: The run in
Penalty try gives Stormers 1 point. 21 27 FT.
Re: The run in
Yeah probably the 2nd worst possible result from an Ulster POV with Ospreys getting 5 and Stormers getting 1. Second only to 2 BPs for Stormers.

Re: The run in
Ulster now down to 8th.
Re: The run in
And with Munster away and Leinster at home to come. + essentially the Italian national side this week.
We’re in deep doo doo.
Ulsters biggest issue is that for the 2nd season in a row, our backs don’t seem to be able to create a linebreak or finish tries.
