Biarritz ground switch!

Post by browner »

From Planet Rugby.................................

Biarritz are also considering a ground switch, but for more permanent reasons. Their Stade Haget, the main grandstand at the Parc des Sports Aguilera, was pulled down this week for reconstruction.

Biarritz are considering sharing with another club during the work. there are six possibilities: Bordeaux, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan, Pau, Bayonne, and San Sebastian, where they hosted a grand quarter-final against Munster last year.

It would seem however that the ideas of Bayonne, Dax and San Sebastian are the most likely, but a detailed cost analysis is still being prepared. Biarritz will continue to play at Aguilera until September 17, when they play, somewhat fittingly, Stade Français.

Did they not put buses on for the Munster fans last year when they played n San Sebastian ? For anyone who has not booked if it is there it is another way to travel.

I would imagine there would not be too much disruption as they have to acomodate thier own fans as well. A problem is only a solution waiting to happen.

YM, you do realise that your lot will be sharing a flight with the GB's? I can only apologise in advance and hope that this will not spoil your trip too much. :D

The URSC has asked Mike Reid to get the situation clarified as soon as possible. But what the heck, we'll beat Biarritz no matter where the match is played! Perhaps I should start taking those wee pills again.

from Ulster Branch:

Biarritz v Ulster: Venue
Following some speculation, Ulster Rugby can confirm that Ulster's away Heineken Cup match against Biarritz will be played in Biarritz's home stadium, the Parc des Sports Aguilera

Biarritz have undertaken some re-development at the ground in the Stade Haget grandstand, however Ulster Rugby has received official, written confirmation from ERC that the match, on 29th October, will not be affected.

YM,

there is a group of terrace dwellers (Gaz amonngst them) who style themselves as the GrouseBeaters (or GBs). From what I hear they're not a pretty sight.
