From the snooze letter:
A mystery injury continues to keep Bryn Cunningham out of contention, although McCall said the shoulder problem was being investigated further this week.

"Although the shoulder has responded fairly well, the medical team believes there needs to be further investigation.

"That is taking place this week and we should have proper information on the situation by the end of the week," said McCall.
Hmm cannot say I like the sound of this. Do you remember the injury to Ryan Constable prior to the CC Final that was supposed to keep him out for 3 weeks? That was the last we saw of Ryan as a player.

Shoulder injuries are always a bit dodgy, is it the same one he injured last season at the A game :?:

agree... for some reason shoulder injuries are always glossed over and can be extremely complex... look at lord jonny of wilkinson. the prevailing attitude was "ah... merely a tweek. right as rain after a day or two lifting dumbells"

maybe dr. munchkin can enlighten us?

i hope its not as bad as all that and wish bryn a speedy recovery... can you imagine the amount of hearts that'll be broken if he isn't back soon!!! :?

If we lose Bryn we haven't got a specialist fullback any more. Though Paddy showed some signs of improvement in that position at the Blues game.

Doctor in training Jamesie!!! But, from my as yet, meagre knowlegde of the body I will diagnose  :

The shoulder joint is made of the humerus of the arm and scapula of the shoulder. The scapula has a cavity called the glenoid fossa. Into this cavity, the head of the humerus bone of the arm fits. The problem is that it is not particularly deep, unlike the acetabulum cavity of the pelvis at the hip. (Nor does it have the stabilising bony ring structure present at the hip)! So it is more prone to dislocation.

Also all that secures the shoulder joint are a few ligaments. These ligaments are weaker and shorter than those in the hip and are thus more likely to be pulled or torn. Recovery periods are often underestimated basically because some people take more time to heal than others and because ligament damage can appear to be helaed without actually being so! Once ligament damage has been sustained there is always a weakness and so the reoccurrence of an injury is increased greatly.

I hope this has shed some light on the injury and recovery periods of bryn, jonny and the many other unfortunate casualties of shoulder injuries! :study: :smurfin: :study:
