Semifinals: Ballymena 24 v Armagh 19 and Campbell 15 v RBAI 7

Surprising results as many probably expecting an Inst v Armagh final out of the semis.

Wouldn’t have been deemed a strong Ballymena year and they had a number of losses earlier in the season but they seemed to have really stepped up come shield time, but given their victory over Inst I’m sure Campbell would be favourites for the final now.

Using the same lights they did for the now infamous postponed/moved match.. it seems that URs plan for defrosting the pitch / keeping it from freezing is to switch the floodlights on..

They did it for two nights before they had to admit defeat and move to Dublin after it didn’t work then… seems like amateur hour

its all good, I'm looking forward to this one. Should be a decent RBAI win as this Meds side is as good as any school side I have ever seen, if not better.

RBAI 10-7 Ballymena, Poor game a draw would have been a fair result.

Ballymena definitely deserved something from the game - fought well throughout & had their chances. Just weren’t clinical enough on the day.

RBAI much vaunted but a big let down. Perhaps thought they’d walk it but at the end of the day they managed to get the victory & their names on the shield which is all that matters!

BA played an excellent game plan and pulled inst into forwards dog fight and nearly pulled it off. Could've gone either way in the end. Inst did not click, or rather we're not allowed to.

Pretty much a one sided final, However Sullivan hung in there and never gave up.

Terrible final.

The draw resulted in the top four teams facing each other in the first round, followed by the winners competing in the quarterfinals. Moving forward, seeding is necessary to ensure fairness.

Seems like a comment I've heard a few times in the last six months or so on a much wider stage!
