Transport to ravenhill
Not being a Belfast local and having lived in London for the past 3 years I find myself rather clueless about this. Previously I have commuted with my mates or family from Portrush but this week I am moving in with my girlfriend in a new place along the shore road. She goes to the odd match but not all, and there will be times when I dont have access to the car (plus then i cant have a wee tipple). So i was wondering what you all do for transport? I dont mind walking out in daylight from central station, but if its dark or lashing rain its less appealing. Is taxis the only option?
Why? Why not?
Re: Transport to ravenhill
I find living within walking distance of Ravenhill has been a very sensible tactic....

Drive to the match and get your offspring to drive you home.
It works for me.
It could take over 17 years if you haven't already started on the "offspring with a driving licence" bit, though.

I'm not arguing -
I'm just explaining why I'm right

Never tried it but there must be buses that go down the R'hill road and /or Cregagh road, and there must be even more buses that go down the Ormeau road that could drop off/pick ups omewhere nr Park road junciton? Try the translink journey planner website.

6A bus passes Central Station (stop facing the station), it goes up the Woodstock and then Cregagh Road.
Get off at stop before Bell's Bridge roundabout (junction with Ladas Drive & Mount Merrion) and walk up Onslow.
Goody lives off the Shore Road and she manages to get home from Ravenhill most matches using some unofficial taxi firm.

Re: Transport to ravenhill
I'll be cycling to Ravenhill this year when I can make it.
Ith, bus from town is the best option (6A as Moondance has mentioned). Run often enough too.

Some people say I used to be called Colzo. Don't listen to them people, I talk much less sense than Colzo.
Re: Transport to ravenhill
Colzo: one may be interested in cycling to Ravehill on weather permitting occasion, is there anywhere to leave a bike? Will they let you chain it up somewhere in the car park?

Re: Transport to ravenhill
Does the Park&Ride still operate to the Ozone? From there to Central station - and the iron horse to Yorkgate?

Re: Transport to ravenhill
i enquired about bikes last year and was told (on phone) to bring bike thru the Onslow Parade main gate and leave it immediately in on the left near side of the Ulster Branch Office building. Never got round to trying it out in practise so not sure how you get in as presumably u have to buy a ticket or have yer season ticket taken off u so u maybe leave bike at gate, hope nobody runs off with it, go thru turnstile and race back to bike a.s.a.p.. You'll probably get blank looks from Eventsec guy at gate who will probably start talking health & safety issues and let u no that he cant guarantee that yer bike will b there at end of game. Do let us no whot happens. I wouldnt leave it outside the ground - police mite clamp it or those stroppy local residents wud more than likely let the tyres down.
